Pinecrest Hickory would have been my first choice for my mom. It's clean and bright, and everyone seems to know everybody's names. Since it's independent living there's a lot of ins and outs going on. Because of COVID everyone wears masks, which is good. It's laid out very well. It has an open atrium laid out in the middle with all of the activities around that and the rooms shoot off of that down hallways. It's very friendly. They have their own library, a chapel, music area, and several gathering areas on each floor that encourage people to get together. Someone was putting puzzles together when I visited and there's a reading room. The person who accommodated me during my visit was great. He was very considerate of my mom, answered any questions with her directly, and showed us several room options for her. It was great.

Pinecrest is lovely, clean, and neat. They have a lot of nice activities and provide a lot of services. They now have a doctor who goes there once a week for any issues. This is probably the best place in the Hickory area. They have a lot of musical things like piano and singing. They take the residents to shopping once or twice a week. They also do cards and bingo. My aunt never really had any complaints about the food there.

I had a very nice visit at Pinecrest. They had enough room and it was fully furnished, but you can bring your own furniture. Two residents came up and talked to me. All of the staff was very nice, from the office staff to the food preparation staff. They tried to welcome me and made me feel good. They had programs that you can attend, and places where you can travel, but it was a little expensive for me.

My mom is in Pinecrest and she moved in about a month ago. It's a wonderful place, it feels very much like a resort, and the residents have their own little apartments. The food is really good, she gets to exercise and go on runs, and it's set in a neighborhood area. It's close to grocery stores and doctor's offices, and they offer transportation to local stores. She's very happy. She has a 1-bedroom apartment with a living room, and a good size balcony, that looks out over a secluded nook with plants and trees. She's got a big bedroom with a big bathroom that has a walk-in shower.

I wrote a review several months ago but because it was very negative, they did not post it. People have a right to know the truth. Although it looks nice on the outside, once you get inside the walls of the units, its another story. Housekeeping is a joke. Within 3 months of my dad and his wife moving in there, he fell in the elevator and broke his hip and she was out for an unsupervised walk behind the property and fell and died of a brain injury. The people at the front counter are volunteers who live there and hand out keys to anyone. Very important items and money were stolen from my dad.
