This program provides cash assistance that seniors can use to pay for room and board in licensed assisted living facilities. Currently, the maximum available payment is $1,182. Seniors&rsquo; individual benefit amounts are determined by subtracting their monthly countable income from this maximum available payment. Seniors may also receive a personal allowance of $46 that they can use for items such as clothing. 
 
To apply for this program, Goldsboro seniors can visit the <a href="https://www.ncdhhs.gov/divisions/social-services/guilford-county-department-social-services" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Guilford County Department of Social Services</a>, Greensboro Office, 1203 Maple St, Greensboro, NC 27405. The structure of these&nbsp;bridge loans is similar to a line of credit, and seniors can choose how much to withdraw each month. The funds are sent directly to the assisted living facility. 
 
To apply for a bridge loan, seniors can call Elderlife Financial at (888) 228-4500 or fill out the <a href="https://elderlifefinancial.com/loc/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">online application form</a>. Up to six people can cosign for the loan, and these cosigners do not have to be related to the senior.

Single seniors can have a monthly income of up to $1,012, while the income limit for couples is $1,372. The state also considers seniors&rsquo; resources when determining Medicaid eligibility. Resources include certain liquid assets, such as cash or retirement accounts, but do not include the senior&rsquo;s home, car or certain other assets. The resource limit is $2,000 for a single senior and $3,000 for a couple. 
 
Seniors who do not meet these financial requirements may qualify for Medicaid if they have high medical bills. Seniors can be authorized for Medicaid once they reach their deductible. 
 
In North Carolina, seniors who receive Supplemental Security Income&nbsp;are automatically qualified for Medicaid and don&rsquo;t need to apply.
