2 Assisted Living Communities in Holbrook, New York

I visited my brother-in-law in Sunrise of Holbrook at the assisted living. It's basically a building with lots of senior citizens who need assistance. The room was clean. They were very respectful and very nice. It had a TV/lounge area, and they play games. It's all in this one building. They have a walking area and a place where you can have picnics. It was very clean, good, and sanitized.

Sunrise of Holbrook was very nice. I was impressed because it was set back off the road. The staff and the residents were nice. There were hardly residents around, but they were almost full. They had programs and showed us different rooms that people would go for daily activities. The menu looked nice.

My father moved to Sunrise. They have various levels of care, so he will be able to stay there without needing to go to a nursing home. They have different options for rooms, including private, semi-private, or shared. It's a very home-like atmosphere, the ceiling is low -- which is very good for people with hearing aids -- and the dining room also has a good setup. They offer movies, and they have a lot of little living rooms so he can watch TV with different groups of people and he doesn't have to sit in his room watching TV. It's expensive, but you're paying for good care.

Sunrise was very pretty, had lovely landscaping, and a professional staff. The dining room was nice, and people were served in a timely manner. The various units were of different sizes, different prices, and nice. I thought it was very pleasant.
