Holiday The Cambridge

The Cambridge wasn't good enough for my mother because she needs more care than they offer. We would have had to hire outside help to spend the night with her, but that would be very expensive. They do try to take people who are non-ambulatory, but they prefer people who are ambulatory; you have to be able to go out for a fire drill. Nevertheless, they had studio and one-bedroom units with small kitchenettes with a refrigerator, stove, and microwave. In the one-bedroom, there's a separate bedroom with a large closet, and there's a handicapped bathing facility right in the bathroom. Everything was right there; it was very nice. The food looked absolutely wonderful. They served breakfast, lunch, and dinner and had a lot of activities. They also had a bus that took them to different places for shopping and shows. They had an activity staff who does different activities, like painting and cards. If I was to move there right now, I think I would be very happy.

We've put my mother in The Cambridge and she is doing excellent there. Everybody from the staff to the residents were just wonderful. The cleanliness and maintenance are excellent. They have central air and central heating in the unit. It's one of the few in Springfield that has the central air and central heat with a thermostat. The location is excellent. It's close to everything and they provide shuttles, but it's also close to bus lines. It's across the street from grocery stores, eye service centers, fast food, and anything the residents could want. The staff is excellent.

The Cambridge is fantastic. For the affordability and everything it offers, it’s the best in Springfield. The rooms are very clean. They have a cleaning staff that comes in weekly. They have just about everything that you’d want. Mom likes to do puzzles. They have a place for church, an activities room, an exercise room, and a salon. All of the meals that I’ve had with my mother there have been really good.

We visited The Cambridge for my mom. It was very similar to the one facility we looked at, and when we were looking at it it was more expensive than that other one. It was fine. The one we looked at was a one-bedroom and it was similar to the other one, but slightly smaller. We were visiting a friend that lived there. At the time, the place seemed to be well maintained. We saw the dining area and it seemed very nice. I did not inspect every portion of The Cambridge, like I did with the other facility, because we were looking for an entirely different situation. It was just that when I looked there, theirs was just more expensive, and I did not want to go there.

We signed my father to The Cambridge, and we plan to move him there shortly. My wife and I saw the rooms, and it's a very nice facility. The staff is very friendly, they're more open to the COVID restrictions in terms of allowing these senior citizens to live a little bit more. That's what convinced us to go there. We saw the one-bedroom, that's what we're interested in. It's a three room with a kitchenette, they're very nice, and a very good price. They're doing the best they can, they have a welcoming committee actually too, folks dedicated within the community to welcome new folks. I know it's a little harder with COVID, 'cause my dad will be in light quarantine when he first gets there, but they seem to be working very hard to integrate new people into the community. We saw the dining facilities, they stagger them because of COVID, they serve breakfast in their rooms, then they have lunch and dinner downstairs. It looked spacious, and it looked like it would get the job done; they have to be spacious for people to spread out. I'm thinking they'll have two people per table at max.

My mother is currently at The Cambridge in Springfield and everything is working out really well. So far, she is pleased. I like her apartment, it's all she needs. Her last one was bigger than that, but I really think this one's cozy. She's got a very small kitchen, a living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. There's a linen closet, a coat closet, and big closet in her bedroom. The staff is very, very friendly. My mom can't do anything, but they have an exercise room and they play games out in the front.

The Cambridge has a really nice room to eat and the food looked great. The people were extremely nice. The rooms were nice, very large, and clean. I just wasn't impressed with the appliances since they were pretty worn-out. They have games, take them shopping once a week, and field trips once in a while. The building was under construction for maintenance in some areas, but it was in pretty good shape.

The tour at The Cambridge went well. The people were very nice, not pushy, very caring, generous, and very good with the elderly and the family. They had everything that you would need, like a library, dining room, big family rooms, activity rooms, and games rooms.

I visited the Cambridge. The food looked pretty good. The rooms were pretty dated. The facility seemed fine but old. They had a room for playing pool, a small workout area, and a small library.

Visitor

We visited The Cambridge. It and the people were very nice. We were able to see a one-bedroom, but we’re really interested in a two-bedroom, and they didn’t have any available. They didn’t have a pool, but they did have a small library and a pool table, which is something I appreciate. We had lunch there, and it was very nice. They had a garden that you can go out to, activities, exercise, and some games.
