Glacier Hills in Ann Arbor Michigan has declined rapidly in quality, safety, and dedicated staff services since Trinity Health took over a few of years ago. Their priorities were cost cutting....paying CNA\'s less than Burger King employees, using low cost high school kids as dining staff, and stopped staffing invaluable social workers. Trinity dismisses residents/family and pretty much dictates what goes on - true evidence that Glacier Hills is no longer a high quality, resident-focused place for our loved ones.  In the past four years, Trinity has turned over Glacier Hills\' top management..... the President position 3 times, the Assisted Living/CRC administrator 3 times and the Sales/Marketing staff 100%. Online reviews show the huge decline starting when Trinity took over and continue today. Trinity is now trying to hide low quality service standards and poor resident relations with a fresh coat of paint, interior updates and BIG promises that quality/safety will be restored. You can only pretty up a pig so much. Demand SEVERAL months proof showing quality/safety standards and resident satisfaction has been restored before signing on the dotted line! Buyer beware!

American House has excellent, friendly staff. It's a little older as a facility, but the staff members are very friendly and engaging. It has a family-like atmosphere. They are also pet friendly. Cleanliness is fine. They have an outdoor walking area that sounded lovely, but I didn't get to experience it.

StoryPoint Saline is very bright, airy, fairly new, and very well maintained. The staff is very competent, very friendly, and engaging. Overall, this place is very interesting, and something I would consider. I didn't experience any food, but I was impressed that they made everything from scratch. They have a salon and a library, and they're pet friendly, too.

We already paid for Atria Park of Ann Arbor and moved our mom's things in. She will be in the assisted living section. I am duly impressed with the appearance. It's very nice. The food is really good and the staff has been there for years. They keep track of how many years each staff member has been there and they put that on their name plate. So they don't have a high turnover. They have pretty good sized rooms with good layouts. They have residents putting together puzzles and playing games, then they have people in physical therapy doing therapy, and other residents watch TV or just spend time outside. The staff members they have seem really good.

My mother is currently doing rehab at Heartland Health Care Center-ann Arbor. I'm not really too impressed with the community. It doesn't seem like we're getting much feedback on how she is progressing. I'm not really impressed with the staff. Aside from feedback, they're also so slow in responding. The food is not so good. Mom hasn't done too many of the activities they have because of her condition. Her room there is small and shared. I think they have to improve on being more verbal with their patients because they're not really giving me any feedback. They should tell us about how she's doing in rehab, but they don't.

My brother is going to be moving into American House soon. It seems like it is going to work out very well for him, but it's pricey. The people I have met there seemed like they're going to be very helpful. I had a meal there and the food was good. The room was a nice and good, large-sized 1-bedroom with a small balcony. It was not fancy, but it was nice, and that's what we were looking for. Everything was refurbished. When somebody moves out, it was cleaned and repainted, so it looked very nice. My brother was walking around looking at the closet space and was saying, "Wow!" They get three meals a day seven days a week. They do housekeeping, they come in everyday to empty wastebaskets, and they come in once a week to clean, change, and wash the sheets. Those things are very nice because I have been doing that for my brother, so it would be nice to have somebody else do it. For the first week, for a small fee, I'll have somebody escort my brother to eat so he will know how it is done, and then after that, he will know what he is doing. For a price, you can get various stages of care. They will provide assisted living support. Each thing that you need has a price attached to it.

I had a tour at Brookhaven Manor which was very nice. It was a wonderful place. The woman who showed me around was marvelous and extremely helpful. I saw a lot of activities posted as far as classes and trips, so there was certainly a lot going on. The 1-bedroom was very nice. They showed me granite countertops and the high-end kitchen. It was a beautiful apartment. However, as far as the desirability of it for our purpose, I wouldn't put it that high a score. It's a great place, but it is not the right place for my brother.

Hillside Terrace is very nice. It is also smaller since they only have nine independent living apartments. They also have assisted living and a memory care unit. However, if you spend down, they don't accept Medicaid, so you have to move out which would become a problem. Since it's family-owned, you have a staff that is very committed to the community. Their family is very much involved at all levels of it and it has a family feel to it. I watched the people interacting with the residents who were coming through and it was a very warm place.

Brookhaven Manor is a very nice facility with lots of activities. It's in a nice location and it's much more reasonable cost-wise. It's not as elegant or glamorous as some facilities, but it's lovely. The staff is reliable, knowledgeable, and pleasant. The rooms are apartment style.
