I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My stepmom is now at Summer Place. It is great and it is beautiful. The people couldn't be nicer, more helpful, or more supportive. I'm very pleased with it. The dining area is beautiful. There is a big fireplace and a baby grand piano up on a stage. They use linens during dinner, and you get three choices for breakfast and three for lunch. They take your order and they serve you just like in a restaurant. There is a list of activities that changes every week. They have someone come to play the guitar, they have music and old songs, they have a rec room where they do crafts, they have a card game room, a pool table, they go on outings, and they have a hairdresser on staff. My stepmom has her own apartment with a small kitchenette if she wants to make something herself. I live a distance away so when I call up there the people are really supportive. When I ask a question or when I have a request, they get on it right away. My experience has been great. They have somebody that comes and cleans my stepmom's apartment every week, dust the floors, wash everything, and change the linens. The place is nice, clean, and very well kept. I have peace of mind with her there. I know she is safe and she is cared for. I'm OK with the cost.

Summer Place is awesome, and I can't wait to move in. It's a bunch of people my own age. They're very active, and they drink wine at dinner like I do. I was impressed. I have five windows in the living room. My apartment has a backdoor with a patio that goes all around the apartment, and with hooks for bird feeders, and various little sitting spots that overlook the woods. The staff is fabulous, very friendly, and accommodating. I tried the food, and it's like a restaurant. You can choose anything you want from the menu that day. Everything is included in the fee except for my cell phone.

I visited this facility

Summer Place was a very nice, cheery, and bright facility. I met with a woman who toured the place with me who seemed nice and answered pretty much everything that I had to inquire about. It's well maintained and very clean. They had many activities for the residents. The apartments that were shown to me were very nice and very clean. It's a very nice facility inside and out. The grounds were kept very nice, and the building itself was very clean.

Summer Place was very nice and located in a convenient place. The rooms were really nice, too. They had a bus that would take you to different places if you can't drive. They had somebody that plays the piano once a week. The staff was really nice, too.

I visited this facility

I visited Summer Place. They showed me an apartment that was at the end of the corridor. It had a huge octagonal living area and a wrap-around porch. You could place 30 lounge chairs there. It was more a meeting room than a home. It was not what I was interested in, and I couldn't imagine myself living there. They offer exercise classes, art classes, games, and all sorts of things. It was too expensive, and like living in a first-class hotel.

Summer Place was a pretty nice and immaculate facility. We ate a very good and tasty lunch with an older couple who have lived there for several years and seemed very happy. They offered three meals a day and snacks. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and pleasant. I was particularly pleased that they didn't talk down to us. They talked to us like we were really people, which was great. The facility itself is in a very lovely area. It seemed beautifully maintained and relatively modern. It seemed like it had all the modern conveniences. I was concerned about the bathtubs, though, because they all seemed like they were so low that you couldn't actually take a bath; they were trying to make them easy to step into. They had a bus to take people around to different places like local farmer's markets and grocery stores.

I visited this facility

I visited Summer Place. The greeter was very nice, polite, and thorough in her knowledge. The architecture of the place was totally uniform, which didn’t please me very much. It did not seem to be a well-constructed building. The location was fine, but Chelmsford is not particularly magnetic. The tour guide was nice and effective, but I didn’t see that the place had much to recommend, other than the proximity to Main Street in Chelmsford, and there was not a whole lot to do. The rooms were very sterile. They had a modified pool table, and the schedule of activities was pretty minimal and a little childish. It’s not my idea of a stimulating environment, and it was poorly decorated.

I had a good visit to Summer Place, it was very nice, and very helpful. The staff member who showed me around was terrific. They invited me to lunch and it was good. It was very clean, but there were not a lot amenities.
