I visited this facility

We visited Redbud Hills, and I liked it, but there's no green space, and no parking. It's not a good value for your money. You cannot go and sit outside, and it's crammed in at the end of a shopping center. It's nice, clean, and the people are nice, but it's not pretty. There are minimal activities.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We found Brookdale for my mother-in-law. It's a smaller community that worked well with her because she had issues finding her way around. They were especially friendly and helpful and keep her busy. She lives in a one-bedroom apartment that she likes and feels more like home for her. They play cards and do exercises, but they don't take her out.

Redbud Hills is light, airy, and spacious. The food seems to be quite good and the management is also good. My brother exercises with a group in the exercise room and walks around the perimeter of the building. He has a studio apartment with a nice-sized bath, a walk-in shower, and a kitchenette. It's quite reasonable and his unit is $1,424 per month.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother-in-law has been in Stonecroft Health Campus for several weeks now. It's nice. It's a couple of years old, but it's like every other assisted living or nursing home that I've seen in Indiana. You have to provide private caregivers or else the elderly will be left alone too long. Nobody's staffed properly to take care of them, and they get neglected. We provide private caregivers at least 15 hours a day. She has a private room, and she likes it. She has her own bathroom and shower. They provide great physical therapy, all types of therapy, and a lot of programs for the nursing home and the assisted living residents. She's been there a couple of times before. The food is fine. The only problem is, elderly people do not like gourmet food. They like a small piece of meat, vegetable, potato, fruit, and a piece of bread and nobody seems to want to cook that.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My mother has been here for over a year. At first it was a wonderful place until a new director came. She hired all the wrong people and there was a lot of disharmony. She finally left and we now have a wonderful director who has turned everything around. The new head a nursing is a gem and keeps up on everyone. Her staff is amazing. The new director has also hired more staff and brought on additional nurses. She has also arranged for a doctor to come to the patients on a regular bases. All nursing homes could use more staff, but I think they are doing a great job with what is out there. The rooms are spacious and bright and I have seen more loving care. I do wish some of the meals could be better. Generally the food is fine, but they stick to the same recipes. I would like to see a little more diversity in the menu. The facility is very safe for Alzheimer's patients that tend to wander. I like the personal touches, stuffed chairs and benches, curio cabinets with period items within, pictures on the walls, two tv rooms, activity room, two dining rooms, music playing by a window. They rotate visual and tactile items on various tables for the residents to use. There are always snacks available. I really feel mom is in the best place she can be. Autumn Hills is one big family.
