Buckingham South is a multi-story apartment building. The lady that met us there, who was the daughter of the owner, was fabulous. She was very accommodating. She got a wheelchair for my mother because my mother couldn't walk through the community. She let us meet the staff, the nurses, the cook, and some of the residents. They were friendly. She even let us see some of the different apartments. It was a very positive experience and they made us feel very welcome.

The general appearance of Buckingham South Assisted Living was good. The layout was very conducive to the residents moving around, activities, and so forth. The furniture was nice. It was getting old, but it was clean and nice. In the next couple of years they need to start updating some things. The kitchen area wasn't bad, but the floors could've been a little cleaner. The manager was excellent, spent a lot of time with us, showed us around, and was very knowledgeable. The good thing about them was the employees were long term. They don't have a lot of turnover. The manager has been there for over 20 years. The residents seemed to be happy. They had four lady residents that were over 100 years old. Everything seemed to be clean. They didn't have a separate dementia ward where they leave the dementia patients sitting in chairs, which was good. If they have dementia patients, they charge a little bit more for that level of care. They kind of blend them in with the regular tenants. The person who showed us around was very good.

Visitor

I was very impressed with Buckingham South Assisted Living and the friendliness of the staff. Their pricing was a little high, but I'm sure it was worth it. Maybe they could improve the cheeriness of the place by brightening up the lights in the hallways. I saw a studio and a 1-bedroom and I was very impressed with the size and the layout. It was a good match for an assisted living place.
