Had a wonderful tour with Ashley. This is a great community. Went looking for my father who has dementia and felt so welcome. The warmth and vitality of the community made me and my family feel like this would be the perfect choice.

Brookdale West Melbourne was an excellent place. They have good pricing standard. They have a cap of $1,500. The rooms were very nice and my mom would've been comfortable there. She was going to get a studio. They were small, but they had private bathrooms. They had a nice center courtyard with a screened-in porch in every building. Everybody seemed to like the food. The dining area was very well kept. They weren't just tables and chairs. They had napkins and they were set up like a banquet area. For the price, it's a topnotch place for assisted living. The leasing agent was very helpful, concerned, very pleasant, easy to deal with, and knowledgeable. The facility was very well maintained and very clean. I was very impressed. They clean the rooms for the people and you bring your own linens, but they wash them for the residents.

I moved Mom into Brookdale West Melbourne. We felt this was smaller and would meet my mother's needs. They did a great job; she improved so much there and was able to do everything without so much assistance. The only problem I have is with the staffing. They're expected to do a tremendous amount of work, and it would really be nice if someone answered the door for them, like a concierge. The staff is wonderful, but they're really stretched thin. The food is very good, and my mother gained weight.

Buena Vida Estates was quite large and about 30 years old, but we were impressed with it. We had a very good lunch there. Our impression of the place was good. They had generally nice studios, one- and two-bedrooms in the independent living section. They had a nice outdoor swimming pool. The staff seemed quite competent.
