Clearwater is located in Pinellas County, Florida, just west of Tampa. Its position on the Gulf Coast makes for some beautiful public beaches for residents to enjoy. As of the 2010 census, the population of Clearwater was 107,685. The city holds the Guinness World Record for the most consecutive sunny days in a row in a single year, at 361 days. Downtown Clearwater has been undergoing a lot of redevelopment in the past few years, with condominium construction that could be great news for retirement communities in Clearwater, especially since many portions of downtown feature views of the water. In addition, in 2012 Clearwater was named one of the top 10 places in the U.S. to retire by CBS Money Watch.
Seniors in the Clearwater area fall under the service jurisdiction of the Clearwater Office on Aging, also known as Clearwater’s Aging Well Center. The Aging Well Center is a senior center that promotes wellness, socialization, education, and creativity in residents aged 55 and over, providing a sense of community and supportive atmosphere for residents of Clearwater retirement communities and other area senior citizens. There is a senior helpline available to seniors and caregivers to assist with transportation, insurance management, legal help, meal services, mental health services, and advocacy.

It was established in 1916, and is designated as one of the top 100 hospitals in the country by Thomson Reuters. Morgan Heart Hospital, a part of Morton Plant, is a national leader in cardiovascular health and offers the latest developments in minimally invasive procedures. Morton Plant also offers specialty neuroscience clinics that provide the best treatments for strokes, memory disorders, and movement disorders. The hospital is also home to an orthopedics program that offers both surgical and rehabilitative services for joint replacements, spinal conditions, and more.
Transportation is offered to seniors at a steeply discounted rate with the Neighborly EZride Service. For some entertainment and sightseeing combined with transportation, consider a ride on the Clearwater Jolley Trolley, which runs along Clearwater Beach and along a coastal route to take passengers to Downtown Clearwater, Dunedin, Palm Harbor and Tarpon Springs. Other public transportation is provided by the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, with 203 buses serving more than 5,100 bus stops in Pinellas County.
