I visited this facility
Brookdale Uptown Whittier facility is very clean, I like the staff, and I like the amenities. They have good exercise programs for seniors, just like the other place we toured. They take the residents on trips and outings, which I liked. They have the same type of programs for their affiliate community, which we also toured.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
My sister moved into Brookdale Uptown Whittier, and they are wonderful. I love the staff, and they have done well. They were very attentive, and they really pay attention to the people. I went in there to check it out before my sister moved in. They were very nice and very informative. It's a two-bedroom apartment with a kitchenette, and it was perfect for her. I don't think they have many activities yet because of COVID, but I think they are starting to have them again. They have started to allow friends and family to visit. It looks like they have begun serving meals in the main dining area. Everything seems to be perfect. They don't have a coffee shop because there is one within walking distance. They do offer coffee in the mornings. They have a library, and they have a place where they can do puzzles; they have quite a few things. They are informative, and they let me know if something is going on with her. The food was great. I've seen the menu, and it is put together well.

The tour experience at Brookdale Uptown Whittier was very nice, but its not appropriate for my fathers needs. They showed us units, and all of the extras added to the original cost. They were very honest with all of the costs. It was also very clean, and very nice. There were no free amenities except the meals. The dining room looked very nice, and the outside was very clean.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
My mom moved into Brookdale Uptown Whittier. Its good, she has her own apartment, she has a kitchen which she can cook on her own. The food in the dining room is not to her taste, so she prefers to cook, or to go out. They offer a lot of activities, but shes not interested. They also have an exercise room. The location is good for us, because she used to live nearby, and its a very nice environment. The employees are really good, and were happy as we can be with this.

Brookdale Uptown Whittier was very nice. They had a big dining room and a little private section for if you wanted a family dinner. They had music night when I was there. They were doing renovations. They had a little library and they were adding a beauty salon. It was very clean, I just didn't care about the long hallway with the numbers on the doors -- like in a hotel. The staff was very nice and very helpful. They showed me the rooms, the sections, and the activities that were going on there. It was very impressive.

Everything in Brookdale Uptown was good, the food was about the same from where my mom was. They had a lot of activities. They have a very nice dining room, a good recreation room and a weights room. I would recommend this place.

Brookdale Whittier was very nice. The apartments were nice. They were well appointed. You could bring your own furnishings, or they could provide furnishings for you. They had nice meals. They had food available almost 24-hours, and if you didn't like what was being served on the menu, they had sandwiches and soups. It was very accommodating. They had lots of activities. I played bridge with a couple of their residents. They had trips on Sundays. They went to plays and trips to various cities and suburb. They made sure that the people went on time to the activities, and they must be really entertaining for people to want to leave bridge club to go to the activities. That was impressive to me. We ate lunch there as part of the bridge club, so I was familiar with what these women liked and what they did not like. I knew their taste, I knew that they liked good food, and I knew that they thought the food was very good. I could evaluate that from their comments.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
Cant judge a book by its cover. LOOKS VERY NICE but its ALL A LIE! Young pretty smiling faces of the front office is ALL A LIE! They nickel and dime residents to death literally! Have forged documents and checks belonging to residents. floor staff steals $ and personal supplies from residents while asleep or are out to meals or are too incapacitated to notice. Wrong medication used on wrong residents. No accreditation, licensing, or oversight. Med nurses are rude. Shove meds in residents mouths, with their fingers not even caring if a resident has dry mouth or chokes on meds, before slamming them on back. Med nurses also often seen in evening walking dogs while on pvt. cellphones instead of doing treatments. Food is horrible, arrives late in so called dining room and almost always cold when received or not as ordered. Too many residents walk around saying its "a place to wait to die". PLEASE do NOT place mom or dad or grandma there, UNLESS they are as big a PHONY as Brookdale Whittier is.
