We liked Lexington's rooms. The only thing we didn’t like was there wasn't a door between the master bedroom and the living room. They had a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi, crafts, and movies. We really liked the dining area. The staff was very nice and knew the residents, and the residents knew them.Read more The Lexington Assisted Living reviews
I visited The Lexington. The lady was very nice. The place was OK, but for what I needed it for, it was a very small area. It was OK, but I wouldn’t pick it for my father. I checked the dementia care unit, and most of the residents were in their rooms not doing a lot of activities. We would like more activities. There ...Read more The Lexington Assisted Living reviews
The Lexington is a nice quiet secure facility with a heated pool, and video cameras throughout. The hired help use radios for communication with ear pieces which is a good way to control annoying noise levels. With the exception of the kitchen and dining room, the people power are long term treasures at the Lxington. ...Read more The Lexington Assisted Living reviews
I liked Lexington Assisted Living the least for my mother. The rooms didn’t have a sink in the kitchen. If you had to wash a dish, you had to go into the bathroom, which we didn’t care for, and the dining room seemed dark. It seemed more like independent living there. They had a swimming pool, which was really nice, an...Read more The Lexington Assisted Living reviews
The city of Ventura originated as a Spanish mission founded in 1782 by Father Junipero Serra. By the late 1800s it had a strong oil-producing industry yielding 90,000 barrels a day. It later became the center of citrus farming because of the region’s fertile soil, which proved conducive to large-scale farming. The construction of major highways near Ventura made it more accessible, facilitating a period of rapid growth. In fact, Ventura’s population has quadrupled in the past 20 years.
Ventura is also a popular surfing destination. Easy ocean access, great views, and a thriving local economy make this waterfront locale an attractive choice for seniors considering independent living in Ventura.
The Ventura Avenue Adult Center is a place where seniors will never lack for interesting things to do or new activities to try. It offers a diverse range of recreational activities (cribbage, Mah Jong, pinochle), exercise classes (Qigong, Tai Chi, yoga), and social services (tax preparation, legal assistance). The center has a Parkinson’s support group managed by the California Neuroscience Institute at St. John’s Medical Center, as well as free ongoing health screenings. Older adults who enjoy independent living in Ventura will be kept busy by the center’s long list of educational and recreational activities.
Only a small section of the original mission founded by Father Junipero Serra still stands today, but that does not deter visitors from coming to Mission San Buenaventura. The mission was the 9th Spanish mission to be established in California and the last one founded by the Franciscan friar. The stone grotto and the beautifully landscaped garden provide a picture-perfect rendition of serenity and calm. The mission is an active parish church of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Ventura independent living seniors who are interested in the history of the region will surely appreciate the unique glimpse of California’s long and rich past that can be gleaned from a visit to the San Buenaventura Mission.
