My parents already moved in to Felicita Vida Senior Living. The woman that helped us was excellent. They're as happy as can be. They're in a 1-bedroom corner unit. They face the courtyard and they're very happy with the position of their unit. It's only 2-1/2 years old, so it's very modern. They have granite countertops and the bathroom is beautiful. It's already wheelchair ready, so if they need wheelchairs, they don't have to move from their current room. They have a wonderful menu, plus they have a special of the day. The events are fantastic. They take the residents off-site but at the facility there's something going on every day. They have access to a bar, and they have a gym. The food is great. In fact, when family comes, we can get a voucher and we can eat with them. It's very nice. We have access to doctors' transportation. A lot of the rooms are small for couples, but they're OK for individuals. My mom and dad went in as a couple, and one of the corner rooms came available. The bedroom size was 12x17, so what sealed the deal was when that unit became available. The staff member was very helpful and she knew what we were looking for. My parents are really happy with what they took and what they have and where they are, and that makes us happy. They just need a little bit of improvement with the transition of a resident moving in. They're expensive, but in comparison to the other places that we saw, they're pretty average. It's a little expensive, but they're along the lines of everybody else. They met all our needs.
My review of this place can be summarized in several words: DON'T GO THERE!!!! I toured the place while looking for a memory care facility for my mother. The "sales rep" assured me that the staff was well-trained and experienced in dementia. HAHAHA, what a joke! When I checked my mom in, I was shocked!!! My mom was left alone in her room for many hours, without any activities or other engagement. They're seriously UNDER staffed, UNDER trained, and POORLY run, and should loose their license. Basically, I was paying thousands of dollars a month for a room for her to sit in! After a week, I removed my mother, knowing that I could not subject her to the woefully substandard care she was getting. The place is run by a corporation in Carlsbad, and they refused to fully refund my money, forcing me to take them to court to recover. BE WARNED: AVOID THIS FACILITY IF YOU WANT A QUALITY FACILITY FOR YOUR LOVED ONE!! PS. As I learned the hard way, this same corporation also manages "Vista del Lago", another joke of a "memory care" facility in Escondido, so I strongly recommend that you stay clear of that facility, as well!
I really like the lighting of Felicita Vida Senior Living. There’s a good amount of natural light, but most of the light in this facility comes from artificial lights. Despite the lighting, the building still manages to feel very bright. This facility is very close to Vons grocery, Trader Joes, and shopping centers. Furthermore, there are many restaurants nearby. However, I would not suggest walking to these facilities due to having to cross a major roadway. The style is unique, and the outside building reminds me of a Spanish Vila. Inside, there are private and semi private rooms. The semi private rooms are small, but the price is in the two thousands, which is very affordable. The apartments are nice, well designed, and offers more space so that residents can move about safely. There is also therapeutic memory and physical care available. There is nothing unique about the services at this facility, but the staff members are nice, the residents are friendly, and location is peaceful.
