Freedom Plaza is by far the nicest of the ones we visited, and the food was fantastic. It's just not a feasible option for us since we don't want to do a buy-in. It's gorgeous. The staff was wonderful. We got an invite in the mail to come and join them for lunch. They put on the most gorgeous lunch and it was fantastic food, which by far was the best of any place we visited. The room was beautiful, but they didn't have any garages. We wanted a garage because my husband just got his leg amputated and we can't have a car park two blocks away. The whole facility was gorgeous. They have an indoor and outdoor pool and a massage therapist comes in. It had everything you could want. The staff was very helpful and the presentation was absolutely beautiful. The food was beyond my wildest imagination. They had shrimp, tenderloin slices, and a Baked Alaska, and the residents got that too, so they weren't just putting on a show for me.
The staff at Freedom Plaza Care Center was quite good, very helpful, answered our questions, and worked with my husband very well. It was clean and they had a lot of stuff going on, but he didn't really participate. He had a TV in his room. His room was a single, which was necessary for him because he wakes up at any noise. The only bad thing was their bathroom doors open the wrong way, and even the staff members know that. It's down this little hall and you have to go past where the door is and then open it and then go in, and the door doesn't open beyond a 90-degree angle, so it's very strange. He was there for two and a half weeks. Besides being a skilled nursing center, they have permanent residents too, so there are plenty of activities. Everyone seemed to enjoy it.
My husband had skilled nursing at Freedom Plaza Care Center. It was excellent, nice, new, and he had a big room. They took care of his physical therapy needs. I was really impressed with his room and he had no complaints. I've heard it's one of the best around and it seemed like it was. The staff seemed fine, very helpful, were good natured, and seemed to be doing what they needed to do. It was so nice, sharp and modern.
We would never go to Freedom Plaza Care Center again because dad was treated really poorly there. Our experience was horrible. The very first night he was there, he hit his call button because he had to use the bathroom but nobody answered. He slept in his pee all night despite his room being right around the corner from the nurses' station. When I would go there, I would hit the button just to see. Nobody would show up. I'd look around the corner and there were all kinds of employees hanging out at the nurses' station ignoring everybody. I told them not to give him a specific medicine, and two days later, they are still giving it to him. The place was average and clean. Dad was satisfied with the food. It was just the overall care that was not good. The staff wasn't very friendly, either.
