Description of The Sequoia Assisted Living Community

The Sequoia Assisted Living Community is a senior living community-based in Olympia, WA. We specialize in assisted living and respite care for older adults.

Our assisted living residents enjoy living in private (or companion) apartments, furnished and decorated with their favorite things. Each apartment is designed for comfortable living and includes a spacious bathroom, a large closet, and optional private telephone line.

Our program is designed to provide residents with nurturing, comfortable, and home-like environments while offering supportive services such as medication management and help with dressing and grooming, as needed. Residents can maintain their independence while having supportive services available when they need it.

Assisted Living Services - We can tailor a care plan specifically for you. Following is a list of various services and programs we offer our residents:

Staff trained in CPR and first aid
Caregivers available 24 hours a day
Respite care while recuperating from surgery
Medication management
Assistance with arrangements for physical, occupational, respiratory, and speech therapy available
Assistance with arrangements to medical appointments
Diabetic management
Urinary incontinence management

I am/was a resident of this facility

I've been at The Sequoia for a little while now. I'm a diabetic so I have to have injections, and the nurses are very good. They come on time, so I don't have to wait around for them in the morning. The food here is good, which is very important to me. It's clean. I have a nice room. I'm happy here, but I wish there was more intellectual stimulation here.

I visited this facility

I visited the Sequoia Assisted Living Community, and I liked it. The staff member was knowledgeable, very helpful, and she gave information to my daughter to follow up on the VA to see how much I could get. The rooms could be a little bigger. They have two dining rooms, and they have a kitchen-type area in the big dining room where you can make cookies. I liked the overall appearance, and they have a patio.

I visited this facility

The Sequoia was a very small, older facility. It didn't have many bells and whistles. The rooms were more studio-style, but it felt backwards that when you go into the room, you're actually entering the bedroom and then you turn to go to the little living area. It had a nice, little, protected courtyard area that was very small. If somebody wants to be real social, that probably isn't the place to go. If they want their own space where nobody's bugging them, that's probably the place. They showed us a schedule of activities. When I came in, the gal at the front was very nice and greeted me right away. I only dealt with two people, and they were very nice.
