Description of Holiday Holiday Hills Estates

Nestled in the heart of the Badlands, Holiday Hills Estates is convenient to dozens of excellent shopping, dining and healthcare facilities. We are also located within easy driving distance of popular local attractions such as the historic town of Deadwood, Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills National Forest.

Holiday Hills Estates is proud to be a Holiday Retirement community. Since 1971, Holiday Retirement has been creating superb residential communities where seniors feel a sense of home and belonging. This is what we like to call “The Holiday Touch.”

Residents at our community enjoy a huge selection of activities with which they can fill their days. Whether it’s a movie in our media room, shuffleboard in our atrium, a game of bridge in our library or a poker tournament in our game room, there is always something exciting to do at Holiday Hills Estates.

Making sure our residents stay well is a key concern of ours. That’s why we provide three nutritious meals every day that are specially formulated to meet the unique dietary requirements of seniors. We also provide a fitness center and exercise classes so that residents can stay in the best possible shape.

Available Services

When seniors need to attend a medical appointment or simply want to go shopping in Rapid City, we are happy to provide them with a free shuttle. Also, residents who prefer to keep their own cars are afforded free parking in our community, as are their guests when they visit.

We understand that each individual is unique and that needs may change over time. Holiday does not provide any health care services. However, residents are welcome to receive services from any outside home health care provider of their choice to help them continue enjoying life at our community.

Designed to feel like a vibrant and exciting second home, Holiday Hills Estates is one of the premier independent living communities in the area.

I visited this facility

Holiday Hills Estates in Rapid City was beautiful, extremely clean, and everybody was very friendly. The layout was kind of awkward to me though, but the size seemed quite nice. To arrange your furniture and things like that just didn't seem real comfortable to me. There was good access in the bathrooms and closets, but the layouts were kind of different. I'd never seen anything like that before. We went to the dining area, they had a nice exercise room, a theater room, all kinds of games and puzzles, and activities. They were still doing quite a bit, even with the COVID. The only person we met was the marketing director, and she was very nice, very helpful, answered all of our questions, and had answers for the things that we were curious about.

I visited Holiday Hills Estates. The tour was nice. The manager, and the office manager were very cordial, they made sure that we stayed away from every body else, and they stayed away from us. It was a nice place. My parents were not too impressed with it. They were like it was too big, too sterile, looks more like a hotel, I guess. The apartment was nice, I did not like the refrigerator, it was tiny, but other than that, it was nice. It was very nice just out of their price range. I believe they did have studios. But the only thing that they had available at that time was a 1-bedroom. It sounds like they had a lot, they had different rooms, a movie room, kitchen room where you could bring your family. And they had bingo downstairs, and a lunch room or a dining room. I know they had some activities, but I don't know exactly what all activities.

My mom is going to move into Holiday Hills Estates. It is a wonderful place. Very nice. It looks well-run. I think it's a pretty nice place. The rooms were very nice. My mom saw an efficiency apartment and a one-bedroom apartment. She's going for the one-bedroom right now. The rooms are nice and well kept. I like that all the amenities are part of her rent; it was pretty nice. The recreational stuff looked really good. There were a bunch of ladies playing some bingo, gambling for funny money, and all kinds of stuff. It looked pretty fun. The staff members were very, very nice. I saw a few places and Holiday Hills Estates was by far the best.

Holiday Hills Estates was a nice place. They had one- and two-bedroom and studio apartments, and they were all nicely arranged, clean, and freshly painted. The dining room was large, open, and nice. Upstairs was the weight room or exercise room, and they have a meeting room. They have ice cream socials and they play cards. The staff all seemed friendly.

Holiday Hills Estates was very nice and clean. The people were very friendly and very helpful. Our experience was good. They were very congenial, nice, and willing to help assist in any way they could. They're a friendly and nice community.

We toured Holiday Hills Estates, and it's our second choice. It's a really nice community, spotless, and with very nice rooms. The dining area was pretty good, they have a salon, a recreation area, and a chapel.

Holiday Hills Estates is wonderful. What I find really great about this place is even though it is independent living, they provide three wonderful meals a day. They also provide housekeeping once a week and they provide sheets and towels. There's always plenty of activities that everybody can get involved in, which is wonderful. They invite the families to come as well, which is great. I've even gone and participated in one of the activities. It is just a wonderful atmosphere for the elderly. It gives them a sense of community and family. The staff there is fabulous. The dining room is like a restaurant. They come to your table and take your order, and you have three or 4 choices. They serve your food hot, good, and nutritious. They have a special private dining room to accommodate families who are visiting. They also keep the place spotless. Even the residents are very welcoming and friendly. They have a beauty shop and a barber shop. They also provide their residents with a life alert device -- like an emergency button -- that they can wear.

My mother is a resident of Holiday Hills Estates. I think the care they provide is pretty good, and her room is kept as clean as possible. She seems to enjoy the activities. They have lots. She especially likes the music; they have people who come in for them. Right now, the cook that they have is not the best, and I think they could do better with their meals right now. The food got a higher rating when we first moved in there, but they've had a change of cooks. She's a diabetic, and they don't cater to a particular diet in this particular community because they're a retirement community and not state-run. I would rate the rooms a four because some of the rooms do not have a full kitchen. This is one of the cheaper places in our community.

The director from Holiday Hills Estates was very nice. He explained everything very thoroughly. We were there for about two hours and he took us all the way through and showed us what was available. They had more entertainment than other communities. The atmosphere and layout seemed OK. The rooms were very nice, but I didn't like that when you come in the door, you walk right into where all the people are sitting. They're not in their room; they're just out there. At some of the other places, they have a special room where they do their bingo playing. I was disappointed with the carpeting. The director said they were in the process of cleaning it, but I thought it should have been cleaned before and more frequently.
