I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents moved into Indigo Pines last December. The staff, Christine, who I spoke with was very helpful and just provided a lot of information. As far as why we chose it, I think it was the physical therapy that was onsite, we knew my mom was gonna need physical therapy, and the structure of the location. I know they have Catholic masses on Thursdays, but I think that has stopped. My dad said that they haven't had the masses the last two weeks, maybe because of COVID or the Holidays. My parents get their meals there and they're kind of picky, but my sister-in-law said she likes their salad a lot. My sister-in-law and my brother live in Hilton Head, so they see them. I think that there are a lot of activities, I just don't think they participated in them. I didn't go in the front door when we went for New Year's. My parents had a side door. I didn't walk around the property. Christine was really helpful in pulling together furniture to furnish their place because it was unfurnished.

Our 92 year old mother has experienced first hand neglect due to untrained personnel at the The Retreat located at Lady’s Island. Their staff members were unfamiliar with her medical needs or personalized care plan, and their sub-standard care resulted in an adverse effect to her physical and mental health at this nursing facility. When our family members addressed these issues and any concerns, management as well as staff would not proactively suggest solution, lacked communications regarding improvements and instead members of staff acted passive aggressively, blocking attempts to transfer our mother out of their facility by delaying transfer of medical documents, and delaying mandatory tuberculosis testing. My mother lost a substantial amount of weight while at the Retreat, she suffered neglect by the staff who would \"forget\" to feed her while she was in quarantine due to medical appointments she had to go to. The meals were awful and did not provide the nutritional needs she required, she felt depressed and alone, not allowed to leave her room or participate in any activities while in quarantine. She was mentally distressed by the facility\'s nurse who would threaten her with being quarantined when we had to take her to the Urgent care clinic for a PPD test required by the new facility we were going to transfer her to. I would give this facility a rating of 1 or less. If you care about your loved one, do not take them to the Retreat to live. If they live at the Retreat, I would move them out. A lot of residents, as well as staff and administrators have left this facility....for a reason.

Indigo Pines was wonderful. My brother needed more than the independent living, towards leaning the assisted kind of living, but they were only independent. They were lovely and the place was great. I toured with Christine who is their place in-person. She was wonderful. I saw all the floors in the building, the dining room, theatre, activity center, and the receiving area outside to them. They have an atrium in the center and I met residents as I was there. They were very friendly. We all had our masks on and they were just happy residents, which was very nice to see. You could tell that they were all happy there and ready to answer any questions. There are individual apartments. I looked at the studios by choice because my brother didn't need anything bigger than that. They had a kitchenette area and walk-in showers, which is certainly good at that age. It just didn't have the services that we felt my brother needed. The menu looked very nice. It was beautiful. The inside was certainly nice. I liked the outside too. The outside had a walking path so you can run around the property. If you walk, you could walk at almost four loops around the property, which is equal to a mile. It was all trees and cement sidewalks, so it's a safe way to walk. On the outside they have outdoor furniture, plants, and flowers.

Bloom at Belfair's rooms were a little dingy. It was a larger facility than the other place I visited, and their main area seemed very nice.

I visited this facility

We visited and the appearance and layout were very good. The staff during the tour was very nice and friendly. My mother-in-law has eaten there and she enjoyed it. I saw some of their artwork and I saw them having happy hour in the cafeteria. The room was adequate.

I visited this facility

The rooms at Bloom at Belfair were small for my parents and none of them had fully equipped kitchens because they were going to have their meals prepared for them. They didn't have an oven and their refrigerators were little. Even though they allowed independent living, the rooms were set for people who needed more care. You could have a toaster or a microwave oven. They had a small library, transportation, get-togethers, they would take them shopping, they had exercise programs in the mornings, social activities, happy hour, games, cards, and puzzles. The staff was very accommodating and professional and has reached out a few times. She was very good at her job. The place seemed a little bit darker than I would've thought, but it looked nice and it had a nice entry way. It was a little bit older than some of the other places.

My mother was in NHC Bluffton for rehab, and it was very nice. I thought the staff was also very good, friendly, and helpful. The food was really good; my mom liked it, and she even gained weight. There were numerous activities going on, but she specially liked the bingo. It was a very clean place and does not smell. There were always a few problems, but for the most part I would rate the community a 4. My mom had Medicare so she didn't have to pay. When playing bingo, they play for candy and my mother likes candy.

I am a current client of this provider

We have been using BrightStar Care Hilton Head for my parents for two months now. There's a nurse's aide who comes in three or four times a week and a regular nurse who comes in once a week or bi-weekly to help with my parents' meds. The billing has been just fine and everything seems to be right on. They bill once a week and the price is reasonable compared to what's out there. They've been great and very flexible with dealing with my parents. I would absolutely recommend them.

I visited this facility

I toured Bloom at Belfair. The area was quite congested. It's close to Hilton Head, and there are lots and lots of people there, so I don’t think I'll be interested. The facility itself is quite nice, but quite expensive. The person who gave me the tour was quite nice. I couldn't stay for dinner, but they gave me a whole apple pie to take along with me. I saw several people in the halls reading and doing some jigsaw puzzles, but other than that I didn't see any activities at the time.
