Description of Truewood by Merrill, New Bern
Within The Courtyards of Berne Village, we offer daily social, cultural and recreational activities. We are located less than a 40-mile drive from popular Atlantic Beach and our beautifully landscaped 18-acre campus allows for relaxing walks and peaceful moments around our courtyard fountain.
The Courtyards at Berne Village is one of the many communities managed by TJM Property Management. Since 1979, TJM has been providing excellent property management services for senior communities in multiple states.
Featured Amenities
Our apartment-style living quarters are tucked away on beautiful grounds and include studio, one- and two-bedroom floor plans. Accommodations feature private baths, individually controlled heating and cooling systems, plush carpeting and more. Great attention is given to meals, both in nutritional value and presentation, which are served elegantly in the dining room. Dishes are specially prepared by our chef and residents select from a variety of menu options.
Many residents opt for lunch in The Courtyards Bistro Café, which has an old-fashioned soda shop atmosphere. Along with daily lunch specials, soups and deli sandwiches are offered. Families are encouraged to visit and may have parties in either our private dining room or in the courtyard.
Available Services
It is of great importance to us at The Courtyards of Berne Village that residents are well cared for. We have 24-hour security, a trained staff, an emergency response system and a daily resident wellness check. Weekly housekeeping is provided as well as in-house physical therapy, transportation to a fitness center and on-site barber and beauty shop services.
Activities are bountiful with social hours, movie and game nights, crafts, and much more. We care for residents' spiritual needs with weekly multi-denominational chapel services.

I visited this facility
The rooms at Courtyards at Berne Village were very nice. A couple of them were small, but not overly small. There was room enough for a senior person to get around and have a comfortable living area. The dining area was very nice. A few people were in the TV lounge. The staff was very friendly and very courteous. They had a TV room and an activity room where they could play bingo. The dining room doubled as a large social hall as well. They had a nice menu with a lot of variety.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
Courtyards at Berne Village is just absolutely fantastic. They’ve been great to my mother and they’ve been great to me. Every staff member is happy, ready, and professional. The place is very nice and clean. Out of the seven places I looked at, this one is the best and they have not let me down. These people have surpassed anything that I wanted. I'm surprised that it's nice as it is. The food is great. The people care, even the residents. Mom said she can't believe everybody knows her name, says hello, and everybody's always helping her. Everything about it has just turned out to be fabulous. They take the residents to places in a big van, and they do all kinds of things every day. They have people come in to do shows, and they had a luau the other day. When the eclipse was going to happen, they had things set up for that. They also have Bingo, they play movies, they go places, walk around, and play different games.
