I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother spent the last three and a half years at the Carlucci home and We could not have died for a better place. I recommend them without hesitation. Friendly and compassionate staff.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Braemar Living at Wallkill is a beautiful, new facility. Because of COVID I was not able to go inside, but I was able to greet my mom at the door when she was arriving for her move in. As far as I've heard it's been very nice for her. The administration and the nurses have been very helpful and very good over there. The ambulance service wasn't the best. They were coming from Queens and they were supposed to pick her up at 10:00 a.m. and put her into Braemar at noon, but she actually did not get there until 7:00 p.m. that night, so it seemed to have been some kind of problem with the ambulance service. Everything else went smoothly. The people at Braemar were very patient and they waited. I have not been in her room, yet, but from what I've seen it looks like a small apartment type with a little kitchenette. She's in a single bedroom right now because of COVID and will be quarantined for 14 days and then she'll move into a permanent two-bedroom with another roommate. They have a very nice outside area. They have a mini-golf putting range there. They have a checkerboard outside and a little terrace. Inside they have a chapel area where they will have a mass. They have a beauty parlor and activities like bingo. They also have a hair salon, a café, and a lunchroom. It looks very nice, but because of COVID there's a lot of restrictions, and there is a certain limit on how often they could use it. They do their laundry for them. We just have to make sure we label my mom's clothing with her name on it and they do the laundry for her. The doctors are very close by, within five to ten minutes of Braemar, and that's very good to know also because she has a heart doctor that's five minutes from there. Because of Covid we can't go in to see her right now, but the assistants let us see her through Facetime so we can see her on the phone when we are talking to her. The staff is very, very kind, and like I said, we were supposed to get her there by 12:00, and the staff members, the two women who were waiting there, one of them is Cassie, they were very patient and waited for my mom. They would usually leave work at 5:00, but she stayed and waited until 7:00, until my mom was there and she even let us spend a few minutes with her before they brought her inside, so I thought that was very nice and kind of them, and generous of their time. For pricing, they have different tiers for what kind of care you would get. It would be a little bit more if you have a private one-bedroom, a little bit less if you have two-bedroom. They have a memory care, which is something that's extra. They have an Alzheimer's healthcare, and that's something we were looking for in a memory care. Based on everything that we have looked at, their pricing is average, but good quality.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom and sister have been staying at Braemar Living at Wallkill for two weeks now. The facility is very nice and about three years old. They seem to have a lot of people working there who really care about the residents. The rooms are great. They're in a two-room suite, and they have medical attention if they need it. The facility is great, and the people who work there know your name and introduce themselves. My mother is pretty happy with the whole thing so that's good. If she's happy then I'm happy. They have a monthly schedule with all kinds of things. They have a bus that will take people out every day to about three or four places. Internally, they have exercise classes, and they play different games, like bingo at night. They also have karaoke, physical therapy, so they have quite a bit. They also have a beautiful library there with quite a few books that you can take out anytime you want. They have a beauty salon with a couple of chairs in it open a couple of days a week. They have living room facilities all over the building and you can have guests, with nice comfortable couches. The staff is very competent. My mom pushes a little button to get somebody to come up to the room to help them, but it takes them more than 15 minutes so they could use a couple more people working there. My mom loves the food there, and they have a nice dining room.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad was in Campbell Hall for a couple of weeks. I wasn't very impressed with the place. The therapy was good but the case manager was horrible. You're supposed to get a welcome brochure when you get there but she gave it to us before we left. None of the contacts were made so my dad's medications didn't get properly transferred to the pharmacy, and the doctor's appointments didn't happen. It was a mess with her. My mom stays there every night, but the one night we left him alone he fell. The dining area is OK, and they had two activity women who were very good. They were down-to-earth and got my dad talking. They just didn't have the residents doing much.

I visited this facility

Braemar Living at Wallkill is beautiful and brand new. However, the person who took us around made it very clear that if you're in the most advanced unit, you must be able to use stairs in case of a fire, but if you're not, then you're not allowed to live there, which I thought was a little crazy. But, the place looked tremendously good. It's light and airy, and some of the patients we've observed seem pleased and happy. It's top notch. They cover a lot of different levels which to me is a plus.

I visited this facility

Braemar Living at Wallkill was very new, seemed to be very modern, and looked real nice. It was a very good visit. The facility seemed clean. We only looked at one room, but it did not fit what we were looking for. We only saw one person that took us around. We didn't get to speak to anybody else. The tour was very nice and very informative, but the facility did not fit our needs.
