Boasting a friendly environment and plentiful activities in a historic setting, WCA Home in Fredonia, New York, offers women a place to call home when they are in need of supportive services to remain independent. We also offer short-term residency and respite options for women who are recovering from surgery or whose families need to take a caregiving break.

Since 1893 we have been a refuge for women who could no longer live alone. We owe our founding to the Fredonia chapter of the Women's Christian Association who purchased the Aaron O. Putnam house and which has been restored to its original Victorian elegance.

Our community offers a variety of comfortable private suites rooms. Each apartment is already furnished with a bed, end table, dresser, mirror and linens. For when help is needed, there is an emergency call system. 

Throughout the day at WCA Home, we offer a number of engaging activities including bridge, bingo, arts and crafts, and guest lectures. We also provide outings to local events held at the SUNY Fredonia campus, library and other venues. Although we do not allow residents to bring pets, we do have a house dog called Smidgey and pet therapy is a regular activity we offer so everyone can still get their furry love. Devotional services are also offered each morning and pastoral counseling is available. 

Available Services

Our compassionate staff assumes the chores and burdens of home maintenance and housekeeping. Scheduled transportation is availableto get you to doctor’s appointments, local shopping trips or cultural events. Three times a day the dining room is filled with the delicious smells of home-cooked meals, and snacks are available between meals. 

At WCA Home, we are focused on providing wellness solutions to our residents so they can thrive and live a full life throughout their retirement. Security is assured by 24-hour staff, available to assist and respond to daily needs. We are also there to assist with activities of daily living such as mobility, grooming and bathing. As a licensed Assisted Living Program, we can offer speech, physical, and occupational therapy, intermittent nursing care and adult day health care.
