Christian Health Care Center was founded in 1911 by a group of deacons from local Reformed churches. Their goal was to build the first private psychiatric hospital in New Jersey to provide compassionate physical, mental, and spiritual care based on Christian principles, without regard for ability to pay. Today, Christian Health Care Center is a non-profit elder-care and mental-health organization open to anyone regardless of race, sex, or religion. The facility is located on a 78-acre campus in Bergen County, New Jersey, overlooking the Ramapo Mountains. Services include skilled nursing care, post-acute care unit, assisted living, independent living, adult day services, inpatient psychiatric hospital, and outpatient counseling.
