I love Maple Wood Alzheimer's Special Care Center. It's a very nice, building, state-of-art, beautiful building. I was very impressed with it. In fact, I almost chose this place for my husband. The administrator waited on us. They had an exercise room where they could work out with equipment. They served three meals a day with midday as the bigger meal. They had a couple of different types of apartments with private and semi-private rooms, which were very nice. They were furnished whereas a lot of the places I looked weren't.

I visited Maple Wood and I didn't like the smell. Everybody there seemed sedated. They weren't very active or awake. It wasn't a good fit for my mom. She wasn't at the level as the rest of the people at Maple Wood, not at all. Also they only had shared rooms. They did not have private rooms. The staff was fine, but to me, they didn't have enough staff members. There weren't any activities the day I visited either. Nevertheless, they had several sitting areas and a couple of cafeterias, which were nice.
