Tucked away in the historic district of Topsham in scenic Midcoast Maine, The Highlands is a vibrant retirement community offering a range of senior living options from independent and assisted living to memory care. Our wooded, 75-acre campus is just across the Androscoggin River from Brunswick and Bowdoin College, and is less than 25 miles from the many attractions, amenities and services of Portland, Maine.

Independent living is available at our new Independence Plus apartments and also at The Main Lodge at The Highlands. Seniors may choose from private one- and two-bedroom apartment floor plans and enjoy maintenance-free retirement living on a monthly rental basis.

Residents are encouraged to participate in our many daily activities, such as yoga, tai chi, billiards games, ping pong, book groups, personal fitness training, hiking on our community nature trails or golfing at the Highland Green Golf Club. Our heated, indoor swimming pool is also open for recreational swimming and water aerobics.

Cadigan Lodge houses The Highlands&#39; state-of-the-art assisted living residence where seniors enjoy the convenience and privacy of one-bedroom homes with a kitchen and en-suite bathroom. Next door is our new Governor King Community which provides cutting-edge memory care for seniors facing the challenges of Alzheimer&#39;s and dementia.

Residents of our supported living programs enjoy 24-hour care and supervision from professional staff who are available to help with daily life activities such as dressing, bathing and managing personal medications. Daily meal service, transportation, housekeeping, linen and laundry service are also provided.

At The Highlands in Midcoast Maine, we offer seniors a retirement lifestyle full of choices.

We offer both one bedroom and efficiency apartments. All offer a fully functional kitchen, a private bath as well as fully carpeted bedrooms.

At Plant Memorial Home we listen to our residents. We know the benefits of a healthy, active, adventurous lifestyle and we go out of our way to make sure that we provide just that. Whether its input from our weekly resident meetings, or exploring new venues in town. We provide everything our residents need to relax and enjoy the wonderful state of Maine.

A typical week is packed with a variety of activities. This ensures that there will always be something for everyone to enjoy. Monthly resident council meetings provide us the feedback we need to assure we are meeting the needs and desires of our residents. We offer nursing staff 24 hours a day. Our staff includes a Certified Registered Medication Assistant and a Certified Nursing Assistant each shift. The nursing staff work under the auspices of a Registered Nurse.

Our focus is a holistic approach to wellness for our residents. This includes not just treating the body, but caring for the mind, spirit and soul. With specific and personalized service plans, nursing staff not only know our residents need for physical assistance, they remember those unique personal details that tailor our approach with each individual.

All meals are prepared in our kitchen using local, fresh produce as well as produce from our own kitchen garden when in season. We offer home-cooked meals that feature a menu designed to please the tastes of our residents.

Special diets are sensibly managed by a licensed dietitian. Friendly wait staff makes meals in our waterfront dining room feel like special occasions. Family and friends are always welcome. We ask that you call us ahead of time when possible, but we will make every effort to make sure surprise visitors can be seated and served.

Local Produce

We get our produce from fresh seasonal markets and our hometown grocer Bracketts Market. Bath is a quaint and quintessential Maine town, located in Mid Coast Maine; twenty minutes from Freeport and forty minutes from the city of Portland. Everything is a minute away and easily accessible to our residents needs.

Kitchen Garden

Rick our maintenance and garden guru started a 20?30 kitchen garden that we intend to use for fresh produce this summer. He walked our extensive property and discovered large crowns of asparagus planted many years ago. We plan to enjoy tender Martha Washington asparagus this spring as a result. Rick is introducing many fruit and berry specimens that are great for eating and a call to the many species of birds in the area.

Dining Requests

We have monthly meetings with our residents to discuss their thoughts on new menu items. We do work with personal requests to ensure healthy substitutes that will better suit the individual's appetite. Plant Memorial Home

Clover Health Care is located in Auburn, Maine, a small community with several attractions, including the Auburn Riverwalk trail and local history center Museum L-A. Visitors praise this facility’s convenient location and well-kept grounds. Family members commend the many recreational activities available to guests, which include bingo, games, visiting entertainment and outings to movies and plays. The staff is described as being friendly, helpful and caring. According to visitors, Clover Health Care’s amenities include on-site manicures, pedicures and hairstyling.
