My mother is a current resident at Oak Park Village At Hammond. I love them and there a lot of things that I like about them. They actually come by every day and give the residents a menu, so they could choose what they want to eat for that day. It's not like, "Here's today's meal" and that's it. They actually get a couple of choices of what they would like for each meal. They check on them every few hours. They do a quick visual check on them just to make sure that they're not on the floor, for example. They have a little thing around their necks that they use, but they also do visual checks. They are very engaged with their residents. My mother absolutely loves it there because everyone is sweet. Whoever hires them should get a raise. It's like they hire only the nicest people and I know that's a big thing to say. They keep her room immaculately clean, too. If it's dirty, they'll come in and clean. I have nothing negative to say about them, although I wish it was a newer building. Other than that, they are so good that I could say theirs is a dream place. My mom loves the food there. They also have lots of activities, but one has to realize that we have COVID, so they're not really able to do the amount of things that they would normally have done.

My mother-in-law is at Oak Park Village at Hammond. My husband and her sister read very positive reviews about Oak Park Village assisted living and went to visit and talked to the person in charge of admission, and she made the process very easy for them. She gave them the afternoon before my mother-in-law was admitted to get her room ready with some of her own furniture to make it look like home. They test the temperature upon entrance into the facility, so they're very COVID responsible. They got the room set up. It looked kind of like home when my mother-in-law got there. It's been a normal adjustment period from not being at home, but they allowed my husband and his sister to make sure that they had my mother-in-law comfortable and seeing familiar faces and realizing that she should be there. They have gotten her involved in bingo and a crafts session. They provide something daily. She enjoys the meals. Some of them may not be her favorite, but she overall says that they are very nice and very attentive. My husband and her sister are very happy. They would recommend Oak Park Village to anyone. They are a good facility. It's small, which in their opinion made it feel more like home because you get to know the staff much better than if you're in a large facility. It's been the perfect choice for her. It's been a very pleasant adjustment period. It's very well kept and they feel more comfortable with the homelike situation where you get to know people. Also, the way the staff interacts with them, they feel like the transition is very positive.
