Orlando is located in Orange County, right in the center of Florida. It’s population was 238,300 as of the 2010 census, though the entire metropolitan area is home to millions, as it is the 26th largest metropolitan area in the country. Home to more than a dozen theme parks, it’s no surprise that Orlando is known as the Theme Park Capital of the World. The organization also offers disaster preparedness programs, helping Orlando retirees prepare for the potential of hurricanes. Orlando also has two senior centers, the Renaissance Senior Center and the Marks Street Senior Complex. Both locations have a $10 annual membership fee and offer game rooms, exercise rooms, opportunities to socialize, and programs to help keep seniors active. Orlando also offers a senior rate of $75 per year to join any of the city’s six recreation centers, a great option for seniors residing in retirement communities in Orlando.
Orlando has many options for the active senior. It is home to many theme parks, most of which offer discounted season passes for local residents. Orlando Regional Medical Center is one of the largest hospitals in the area and the main hospital servicing the Orlando area. In addition to an emergency room, the Orlando Regional Medical Center offers a cancer center, heart and vascular specialties, and a variety of other specialized services. The medical center also has a Center for Aging for residents of Orlando retirement communities and other area seniors who are experiencing memory problems or other age-related issues. The center is home to several geriatric specialists who are certified to evaluate, diagnose, and treat senior patients.

In fact, drivers do not accept tips. LYNX is a public transportation option serving Central Florida offering a variety of transportation services, ranging from buses to wheelchair vans. LYNX also provides ACCESS LYNX, a shared-ride, door-to-door transportation service for those not able to use the regular fixed route bus service.
