ABBIE LANE MEMORY CARE CENTER Abbie Lane's Mission is to meet our residents physical and psychosocial needs by focusing on their strengths rather than their deficits. Research has shown us that despite significant memory loss associated with Alzheimer's disease, Alzheimer's sufferers still have the same psychosocial needs as all of us; to have a sense of dignity, identity, self-control, self-esteem, belonging/inclusion, intimacy/love, security, meaning and purpose. With our Mission in mind, Abbie Lane's spacious “Family Center”was specifically designed and built to have the look and feel of a family room in a personal home rather than an institution. It has features specifically designed for the care and enjoyment of our residents, including: A designated media center for those who may still enjoy watching some TV, listening to music, dancing and even video games. An area designated for residents who still enjoy art and craft making and other types of group activities. Dining area where residents will eat three nutritious meals a day and snacks. Food is plated and served fresh from a heated and cooled serving table. A kitchenette with a full size refrigerator for storing fresh snacks and drinks to help residents stay nourished and hydrated between meals. The staff station in our family center is designed to have the look and feel of a bar in someone's home instead of a more institutional staff station. An enclosed sun porch, where residents can sit and enjoy some of the beauty of the outdoors in a comfortable climate controlled environment. A therapeutic garden surrounded by a secure fence where residents can take a walk and listen to the running water in the fountain or enjoy the plants and flowers specifically chosen to attract and nourish butterflies
