I visited this facility

The people at Brookdale Manteca were nice and very friendly. We're looking more for cottage-type independent living so it didn't fit what we were looking for. They offered food 24 hours a day, coffee, library, workout, transportation, and group trips in a shuttle bus. They showed us the front units, the one-bedroom, and two-bedrooms. They gave a whole rundown of everything there, and they're very good at explaining it. The person during the tour was very thorough.

My mother loves Brookdale Manteca. They have bingo, dancing, and games. They serve three meals a day and provide laundry if she wants it, but she does her own, and they clean her room once a week. They're doing a great job. The staff is awesome.

I visited this facility

The one we picked was Brookdale Manteca. It is warm and cozy and has a more at-home feeling than the rest that we saw. The staff is wonderful. One of the things we like about it is that some of the staff has been there for 10 years. They have a lot of amenities and activities for the people. They take the shuttle to and from wherever residents want to go. The rooms are clean, and comfortable.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Manteca was a nice but older facility. The staff was nice and very friendly and did a follow-up call after the tour. We were offered to sample the food. They had two options of a one-bedroom apartment or a cohabitating apartment where they would have two bedrooms but on the opposite sides of the common living area with a private entrance, private bathroom, private room on one side. That was reasonably priced at $1,950 which looked good to my stepdad because he's worried about the price. Their guest parking was almost non-existent; I didn't want to have to walk three or four blocks just to go in and visit. The lady who gave us the tour was very nice, answered all the questions, and took some time to really sit down and explain the building, the facility, and the tour.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Manteca was really good and the amenities were also very good. It's well-maintained and the facilities were sufficient -- they even offer a little privacy. It was actually quite nice.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Brookdale Manteca is a wonderful place to be. The staff members are great, except one whoI don't like, but hey, you can't like everybody. The caregivers are great. I have a one-bedroom with a kitchen. They offer everything, like balloon volleyball. They have poker and bingo, too. We have a party, which they call happy hour from 3 to 4:30 with live music. It's great. We have everything here. They do laundry and housekeeping. All the careivers are wonderful.

I visited this facility

The apartment at Brookdale Manteca was dark and dirty. I didn't see anything going on when I was there, but they did have a schedule of activities available which looked pretty full. The thing that stood out the most to me was the nice dining area. I was there about a year and a half to two years ago while they were remodeling some areas, so I'm sure it has changed since I've been there. I saw a nice, open library area there, too.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is now at Manteca. It is an older place, but they're making it look better. I don't particularly care for the staff. I didn't pick this place, my mom did. The reason why she did was because of the spacious room, and because she was able to have a two-bedrooms, one-bath that would allow my sister to come and visit for two weeks. The first couple of nights were hard for my mother, so I went to the staff and asked, "What would you suggest to make her feel more comfortable?" That would be a question that they should be able to answer in an effective way, but she said, "Well, that's not our problem; that's something the family has to work out." That could have been handled differently. The staff isn't my greatest ally. If we have problems, we're going to have to figure it ourselves. We chose Manteca because they were pet friendly, they had the room available, and they let you have a visitor for two weeks. My sister also has a dog, so she and her husband were able to come down from Idaho and stayed two weeks within the community, and my mom has a place to house them. That's the only reason why we chose them.
