Brookdale Chatsworth was beautiful. I liked it and would choose this place for myself. I was very impressed because it had a lot of activities and the people were clean and well taken care of. The only problem is it is a little expensive, but it is a wonderful place. If people can afford this place, I would definitely recommend it. The rooms were lovely, clean, and modern. It looked like no one has ever lived there. The staff was excellent, and the dining area was beautiful. Everybody looked happy and having a good time.

My father has moved into Brookdale Chatsworth, and I'm not completely happy. It's a wonderful facility, but they have not had their act together in many instances. They did not give me a clear picture of all the costs that were involved and as soon as I said that we liked it and we would move there, they asked if anyone had told me about the additional fees. It turned out there was a $2,500 move-in fee which I didn't know about. They were nice because when I got very angry, they reduced it a little bit. Also, they said that the rent goes up every January by 5-7% and they hadn't mentioned that either until after we said that we wanted to move there. The other issue is that I had trouble getting them to get an accurate medication list. I went to the doctor and I got a list and we took it to Brookdale and then I realized it was wrong, so I went to the doctor and got another one the next day and drove it all the way down there and gave it to them. They were confused about which one to use and were using the wrong one. It wasn't a serious issue as far as his medications go, but it just showed lack of organization. Then my father complained that they came at quarter to 5:00 in the morning to give him his insulin when he wasn't going to eat breakfast until 8:00, and that's inappropriate for a diabetic. I told them that I wasn't very happy with that either. They should not be giving him his insulin until he gets his breakfast. Once we've ironed out all the problems, I think everything is going to be fine. My father hasn't taken advantage of any of the activities yet, but they sound good.

We chose Brookdale Chatsworth for my mom because they weren't pushy and the food was a big factor. My mom has a cute little place with a little patio and a walk-in closet. The bathroom is pretty small and doesn't really have a shelf to put things on, so it could definitely use a counter. It has a kitchenette and we were amazed about how much furniture she got in there. She's very happy and she likes it. They have nurses available if she needs them. My mom has only been there a couple of weeks but they've been really nice.

My dad was in Brookdale Chatsworth. I liked the facilities because they were really clean. However, I had to travel an hour to get there. My dad wore a pendant on his neck, which he pressed once, but he said nobody came. My son pressed it, and he told me they didn’t come for half an hour, so he had to go get somebody and complain. I don't know if anything was done about it, but I've since moved him up here closer by me. That was not acceptable. However, that was the only experience I had that was not good. The facility was really clean, and they kept him really nice and clean.
