My dad has moved into Orchard Park. He doesn't have a problem with it. For the most part, he has three meals, a nice room, and a washing facility if your family wants to wash for you. I think it is in a good location and is a pretty good place. We don't have any problems at all. Orchard Park is a clean place. They have activities pretty much every day. The dining room is open. They will bring carts out when they serve juice first and then the salad, so you're not overwhelmed with a bunch of food. The residents are good, friendly people. The place is good. They keep the place well painted and taken care of.

I have decided that Orchard Park is where I would like to be. It's strictly independent living and that's important to me. It's very nice, fancy, professional, and clean. Everything is very spic and span. The staff and the residents are friendly. There's a lot of art on the wall. The food is great.

The tour at Brookdale Englewood Heights went fine. We also had a nice lunch, there. We were seated with some very nice people. The facilities were very nice; however, I was looking for something that was independent. The rooms were very clean, well appointed, and colorful. It's what you would expect in that kind of situation. It seemed more for assisted living than independent living.
Well-known for its long history of agriculture, the fertile soil of Yakima enjoys over 300 days of sun as well as fresh water from both the Naches and Yakima Rivers, which converge just north of the city. The combination of both sun and water make this central Washington location perfect for growing grapes and Yakima has become the center for wine production in the state.
With a population of over 75,000 and a booming local economy, assisted living in Yakima is attractive to seniors who want a variety of dining, shopping and recreation choices just steps from their front doors.
There’s never a dull moment at the Harmon Center for seniors enjoying assisted living in Yakima. The 16,000 square-foot facility offers seniors a variety of programs and activities such as fitness classes, dances, and instruction in computer skills or china painting. Members of the Harmon Center are also eligible for hot lunch and dinner programs as well as sponsored day trips and tours around the city.
The city of Yakima has actively preserved much of their historical roots dating back to the building of the city’s first railroad back in 1907.
Residents of assisted living in Yakima can immerse themselves in the history of the town by riding the recently restored Yakima Valley Trolleys, which have been in operation for over 100 years. Motormen run the five-mile trolley line while presenting historical commentary about both the railroad and the city.
The history of the railroad is also celebrated along the boardwalk of Track 29 on historic North Front Street. The fully-renovated 1912 Pacific Railroad Depot is home to a variety of unique shops and other attractions, some of which are built into authentic railroad cars.
A staple of Yakima for over 60 years, Yakima Memorial Hospital provides high-quality medical care to residents of assisted living in Yakima and the greater Yakima Valley community. Yakima Memorial employs 327 physicians representing 35 different medical specialties who are ready to serve seniors in the cancer, heart, critical, orthopaedics, surgery and psychiatric care units.
In addition to its treatment services, Yakima Memorial runs the complimentary Third Age program for seniors age 50 and older. Third Age provides discounts, education programs, a quarterly newsletter and other perks to its senior members who are looking to remain actively and healthy as they age.
Seniors can travel from a community of assisted living in Yakima to the city’s many attractions and amenities simply by catching a bus at any one of Yakima Transit’s 800 bus stops conveniently located throughout the city. Nearly all buses are equipped with “kneeling” capabilities that allow them to get lower to the ground for seniors who have difficulty walking or climbing stairs. Yakima Transit also offers reduced fares to seniors age 62 or older.
