I am a past client of this provider

My husband used Victorian Home Care. We had a girl who was a college graduate, and she was nice. It worked real well. However, one of the main reasons I had requested helpers was for someone to help give him a shower. She fixed him lunch, which is our dinner, but he didn't want her to give him a shower. They had a nice relationship. It just didn't work. We used them one day a week for four hours. Everything was good. She changed the sheets on his bed, she vacuumed the area rug in the living room for me, and she took the dog for a walk. The value for the money was good.

I am/was a resident of this facility

My wife and I moved into Carmel Valley Manor ten years ago and it was the best decision we could have made. We were relatively young, 67 and 72, but we decided that it was important for us to find a place where we could live for the rest of our life in a secure and active community. We were impressed with the beauty of Carmel Valley, the sunny weather and close proximity to all of the attractions of the Monterey Peninsula. What became more apparent after our move in was the amazing sense of community and love of life that fills our lives here. The residents are active with a multitude of sports, games, special musical events, concerts, fascinating guest speakers, continuing education, painting, weaving, photography, plays, trips to local and bay area cultural events and many, many more. We are never bored and have made many friends which we cherish. We realize, that as we get older everything is in place for us to stay active and independent and when we need assistance it is always available. Equally important, our children are happy that they don\'t have to worry about us, can visit and stay in the on site guest units and will never be burdened with the trauma of trying to find a place for us in the event of stroke, or other major disabling illness, We like the fact that all facilities, independent, assisted care and the Skilled Nursing Facilities are all co-located allowing spouses who may be recuperating from treatment to take meals and visit together without worrying about transportation to an off site facility. I guess to sum it up. They seem to have thought about everything. Even the staff is like family, providing loving and attentive service every day. For us it\'s a great value and source of peace for our future. We are thankful every day that we decided to live here in a complete \"Life Care Community\" where our every need is provided for in all situations that may arise.

I visited this facility

We looked at the assisted living here. I loved it. It was new, very clean, very bright, and it felt like a really nice, cozy home. There were no weird smells in the air, and it was like somebody's home. The staff member was very nice. We saw the different areas where they gather to talk about the news, and they had an itinerary each day of what classes or outings were available.

I visited this facility

We visited the assisted living of Park Lane. It was very impressive, very large, older, but a very nicely appointed facility. They have a couple of different outings, they go shopping, sightseeing, and they have quite a few things going on for the residents. I thought that was impressive. The staff member was very nice, we really enjoyed it, and they did a good job. We ate there, and the food was very nice.

I visited this facility

It was fine, it was just more populated and had a little too much activity for my mother-in-law. Other than that, everyone was very helpful and seemed attentive to everyone. As I recall, there was some kind of a lecture where they were giving a talk on something that was interactive. That was a positive thing to see during my visit. The staff was excellent.

I visited this facility

The person who gave us the tour at The Park Lane was fairly new. It was adequate, but not as helpful as some of the other places we went to. The place reminded me of a two-star motel. The dining room was being remodeled. It looked like they had lots of activities like exercise classes and lectures. They could get nicer lighting and decoration in the corridors because it seemed kind of dark and plain.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The Park Lane's care, the rooms, and the staff are excellent. I love the facilities. The property is kept up neat as a pin. All the girls are very professional and wear uniforms every day, which are nice, clean and pressed, and their hair is done up, nice and neat. There are no crazy people running around. It's very well organized. My mom is in assisted living. They have more activities than they know what to do with in a day. The value is very good, and I got a discount during the check-in. It's very reasonable and locked in for a year, so that’s really good.

We selected The Park Lane for Mom. It's amazing. It's so beautiful. It's like a hotel. You don't even know you're in a home. The dining room is amazing and the food is amazing. The girls on the fourth floor in the memory care are all very nice and treat her great. It's all hardwood floors, and they're like apartments with beautiful views. She's only been there one week, but so far it seems like she's getting very good care. We went to all the other ones and none of them compared to how nice it is. It feels like a resort, not a nursing home.
