We looked at Gibson Gardens. Their information said they have on-site caregivers, but they don't. It's just like individual apartments that the seniors are living in, although it's a beautiful place. The apartments are clean, the people are friendly, and the grounds are nicely maintained. They have services, like taking the residents to the grocery store. You have the option to pay extra per month so you can go and eat in their dining room.
I really liked Gibson Gardens. The rooms were large. I met a lot of friendly people who took me to the room where they do a lot of crafts, the garden, and the dining room, where they made recommendations on how many meals you could get. They have a kitchenette which was nice. The staff was very nice and explained everything; however, I couldn't afford it.
Gibson Gardens was amazing. They had elevators, ramps throughout the whole complex, so no stairs to climb, and pets were welcome. They had a dining room where you could eat or they would deliver a meal for a small fee. It was really quite nice. The apartments were nice, bright, cheerful, quiet, comfortable, large but just right for one or two people.
I thought Gibson Gardens was very clean, orderly, and the people we made contact with were very pleasant and helpful. They showed us a furnished room, another they were prepping, and another which was completed. We looked at 1- and 2-bedrooms. We also saw the covered parking, dining room, and some gathering areas.
I was very happy with Acadia in every respect, I really liked everybody there. The people were very kind and the place was well-maintained. The chef quit, so my sister was complaining about the food at one point. The transportation was reliable for her doctors' appointments. She even noticed that sometimes the doctors took a while, but the person who was with her sat there patiently. She could not see and could barely walk, but everything was fine until she got cancer. She had a lot of needs in the end, but they all got handled. They did a nice job of cleaning her room once a week, giving her her medications, injections, vitamins, and things. Everything was good.
Mom really loves her apartment here. Thank you for your place of independent living. Your Staff rocks!
From the outside this luxury retirement community looks like any other apartment complex in the area—nothing about it says "retirement." This makes this community ideal for active seniors. The community is gated, providing residents with a bit of extra peace of mind. Apartments are large, and feature electric fireplaces, a patio or balcony—and in-unit washers and dryers. Residents can grow vegetables in raised beds. While there is no hands-on care available, there are group outings, continental breakfast, on-site maintenance, and a 24 hour emergency call system. This is a pricy community, but safe and comfortable.
