Since I use reviews for my research on different services and products I felt obligated to write my opinion on Ballard Landmark. Life as it moves forward and my mom’s situation led me in my search for assisted living in the Seattle area. A few months ago, I was going to use one of the many senior care companies to assist with my search until I came upon a facebook picture of a person named Betty Ballard. Further reading of this profile it was speaking of Ballard Landmark, a senior community in the heart of its namesake. The next day I called and spoke with the receptionist and they connected me with Mindy who is the marketing director. She immediately understood my concerns and calmed my fears which seemed overwhelming at that time. She gave me enough information so that I could investigate further and weigh my options regarding neighboring senior communities and alternative services. A few weeks later and after consulting my siblings, we made an appointment with Mindy at Ballard Landmark. About an hour into our tour and meeting a few current residents my mom made the decision that this would be her home. It’s been over a month and mom is happy! Thanks to everyone we spoke with at Ballard Landmark who made this decision easy. With much appreciation. Beth
Dear Beth, Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to provide feedback on your experience. We are fortunate to be able to provide support and services to families during their time of need. We are also fortunate to have experienced and compassionate professionals-such as Mindy and the whole team at the Ballard Landmark-who are committed to providing a First Class experience for residents and family members. Please continue to provide feedback on how we are doing, to the team at the Landmark, as we seek to continually improve our residents'experience. Kind regards, Neil Edwards
The Ballard Landmark is located on a busy street with a shared parking area with a Health Club. The back of the building is on a lovely quiet street that on Sundays becomes part of a 3 block farmers market. The saltwater swimming pool area is heated and feels like a sauna so no cold shivers when you get out of the water. They even have a lift for the residents that use a wheelchair. The community recently removed their age requirements because of the number of disabled persons that were not seniors wanting to move into the community. I went for Mardi Gras and they had a live fais deaux deaux band and dancing. I was very impressed with a young man who was a resident and completely blind, that did not stop him from dancing with another resident though. The apartments all come with a stackable washer and dryer. The views south toward the Ballard locks was not stupendous, but OK. The residents were very friendly and I was impressed with their menu posting outside the "restaurant" on a small chalkboard. It looked like a fancy Parisian restaurant with Prix-Fixe dining. The community is private pay only. Because of the location on a bus route, the availability of parking, the quiet back street with restaurants and brick a brak shops, the Sunday Farmers Market behind the building, and the closeness to the Ballard Locks, I was advised that the community was waitlist only to get in. Very very pricey community and worth every penny.
Excellent location. Very convenient for my family to visit. Good choice of activities and entertainment programs. I liked the facility it is very neat and well taken care of.
The location is excellent for older adults who love to keep active with walking, shopping and accessing services all within a short distance of this community. The building is bright and pleasant, and so are the staff and residents.
This is a very vibrant community with many active seniors and quite a wonderful neighborhood to live in. Walking distance many activities. The amenities here are wonderful. The caring staff is always thinking of creative ideas to keep the seniors actively involved, as well as a very high level of sincere care for their assisted living residents.
This community is an urban village in many ways. Located in downtown Ballard it is relatively new and a wonderful addition to the housing options there. One of the focuses of this community is the food, which is primarily fresh and organic and prepared in a healthy way. The facilities are very nice, and they offer some moderate income apartments. Rates are very competitive. One of the main features of this community is the indoor swimming pool. Lots of water exercise classes and special needs uses are common. The assisted living care is more on the light side with most residents not needing services. A very pleasent place to spend your time, with lots of shops and restaurants close by and places to stroll on those warm summer evenings.
A great place to live. it has everything a person or a couple would need. the food is excellent and made for a healthy long life with taste. The building is Perfectly placed in Ballard with the weekly farmers market at the back door. nice sidewalks to walk on and easy to get around. Truly the best place and environment to live. My mother loved it and was so happy with this place. the people are the icing on this cake. They are nice, warm and attentive. I wanted to move in myself and am considering it when my age permits.
I visited the Ballard Landmark during their Mardi Gras celebration and was extremely impressed with this lovely community! Walking into the lobby, I was greeted by friendly and professional staff, live zydeco music, and a very happy bunch of residents dancing and enjoying one another's company as well as some tasty food. It was obvious at the outset that the Ballard Landmark works hard to create a real sense of community and to make a diverse group of seniors (and some younger residents, too) feel at home and comfortable in their surroundings. By all accounts the team of managers and caregivers has been very successful. The Ballard Landmark seems a welcoming and caring place to call home. They also have a great set of amenities, including a theater, a therapy pool, and a relationship with the nearby athletic club. Old Ballard is right at the community's doorstep, with a host of delicious restaurants as well the weekly farmer's market every weekend. The apartment unit that I saw, although small, was wheelchair accessible, cozy, and had large windows with a view of the water as well as a full kitchen. I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a safe, lively, and supportive senior community.
I can't begin to say enough about the Ballard Landmark. I toured approximately a year ago on behalf of my newly retired parents (they are looking to move to a community with amenities in approx 5 years or so) and honestly, this community's perspective and absolute love and care for their residents brought tears to my eyes. Everything they do for their residents focuses on total care. Their 'Whole Life Living' program focuses on Mind, Body, and soul. What is not to love about that!? From their diverse menu focusing on organic, fresh, local, and in season meals (YUM!) to their volunteer opportunities, fitness classes (water aerobics, seriously sign ME up too!) and all the lovely field trips and outings they take (Tulip tour anyone?) I was totally sold. I also love the location...it's within walking distance of stores and restaurants and close to the bus line. The staff are amazing...everyone smiled and chatted with me. I could tell they truly enjoyed what they were doing and it was clear they care for the residents very much. The apartments are quite spacious with huge (I thought) bathrooms. I think my parents would definitely consider this community for their future. Thank you Ballard Landmark for setting the stage for what senior living is all about.
The Ballard Landmark is one of the most wonderful retirement apartments I have ever seen. Immaculate inside and out. I was visiting a friend that has a 1 bedroom apartment in the building. The apartment for the price was amazing. Big windows that overlook the Ballard Locks. Full kitchen and a really good sized bathroom that had lots of space. A convenient washing machine and dryer was in the apartment. The community has a full gym with very "high tech" work out machines. They also have a salt water pool that is indoors and heated. There is a beauty salon and barber shop on the ground floor and a rear exit to the street side that has wonderful little restaurants and shops. On Sunday's there is a farmers market on the same street. My friend told me that the community provides meals, transportation, activities, utilities, and flat linen laundering. Considering the cost of food, utilities, home taxes, gardening costs, etc., this would be a great option to owning your own home. I inquired about any type of age restriction at the community with the receptionist and she advised me that there was none. Lucky for me! I'm only 55 and most places had restrictions of 62 and over.
