The best way to get to know a community is by scheduling a tour. See the facilities, meet the staff and residents, and get a feel first hand what it's like to live at Brookdale Renton Assisted Living.
Brookdale Renton wasn't as new as the others. It was older, but they take Medicaid, so you could segue into that if you needed to. The people were nice, and the residents seemed happy. For what they're offering and the value, it was pretty nice. The staff I met was excellent. The rooms were smaller and the doorways weren't as wide, but they were clean and nice enough. There was a resident who had given the facility a really good review, so that made it seem like the people were happy there.
Brookdale Renton is an older facility but a good one. The interior needs updating and the furnishings are worn but it is clean. There are several floors to this facility and there is an elevator for residents. When I visited there wasn’t much going on in the way of activities and residents were sitting around not doing much. The exterior grounds needed maintenance but they did have a nice area for residents to walk and sit outside and relax. The rooms good sized like little apartments. They allow pets which is a plus. It seemed adequate for a single person. They have a calendar of activities to keep residents busy. They have a salon and take the residents out on outings. The TV room really wasn’t much of a TC room but it did the job. The dining room was lovely. They offer guest meals I ate breakfast it was quiet good, I had pancakes and bacon with fresh fruit. It wasn't fancy, but very was clean and the staff was friendly and attentive to the residents. They have nursing staff on-site 16 hours a day. They help with bathing dressing, grooming, and ambulation. I like that they have tiered levels of service ensure residents only pay for the services that you need. The prices were reasonable compared to other facilities in the area. I wasn’t too keen on the neighborhood, it was in a bit of a rundown neighborhood, but the grounds were kept up nicely with flowers and clean parking lots. They offer medicine management for residents and have safety buttons in the rooms. The minimum age is 62 for residents to stay. The sense of community I didn’t see, this was more of a nursing home setting. The wellness room didn’t look like it was used much and the equipment out of date but still functional. Aside from the setting itself the staff are wonderful caring and this is a good place to stay it just needs updating and activities to be utilized a bit more. If you are considering Brookdale I would recommend it for the staff and care provide to residents.
