The best way to get to know a community is by scheduling a tour. See the facilities, meet the staff and residents, and get a feel first hand what it's like to live at The Lodge at Mallard's Landing Assisted Living.
I toured The Lodge at Mallard's. They showed us around on the different levels and answered our questions. The rooms they showed us were nice and very comfortable looking. The restrooms were large. The area was large for a studio or a one-bedroom. They talked about the activities and showed us the dining area. What stood out was that the place being very quiet and clean. There's not a lot of people out and about at the time of our visit, but the place was well-kept. The individual that showed us around was very knowledgeable. She gave us a quick brief on the activities and rooms. I like that the hallway areas were very spacious and not narrow.
My visit to The Lodge at Mallard's Landing was nice. It's pretty small and didn't seem to have many activities, so we just felt that was probably not a good fit for her. The people seemed to like being there. It seemed fine. The insides of the apartments were a little outdated. Having separate independent cottages or apartments was a nice feature.
Over all this is a lovely, well appointed retirement community with a very caring staff and I am delighted to have found it. My mother has lived independently for 3 years in one of the cottages with a private patio, garage and beautiful common grounds to enjoy with just a few steps to walk to the main Lodge for meals. If and when the time comes, she can move into the Lodge where there are more services available including memory care if needed. The food is very important to the elderly and Chef Jen does an impressive job with so many different demands. The meal choices are always healthy and I hear very few complaints from Mom. There are also alternative menu choices for residents at mealtimes. The onsite family activities are very well attended and fun for all. The Lodge is located in a quiet setting amidst walking paths, ponds and abounding nature trails. There is no pool at this facility if that is important to a resident. Also my mother would love to have a painting class made available to the residents as part of the art activities.
