I chose Imperial Plaza because it's a big place with lots of interesting activities and people. It has 4 buildings, and the best thing is that they're all connected by temperature-control hallways. Their recreation area has 3 restaurants, a bank, a grocery store and lots of entertainment halls. I looked at other senior communities all over Florida and Maryland, and this is the only one like this I have ever seen. Plus it's not very expensive. You can get your meals at the restaurant or buy a meal plan if you choose to. The assisted living also has their dining room. When it comes to activities, I like to dance, and they have about 3 different dances a week. We have different things that we can go to, some of it is live music and some of it is recorded. They also have entertainment and music in the auditorium, and we have movies, like yesterday we watched Bohemian Rhapsody. So they're having academy-award winning movies as well as old ones 3 times a week as well. And there's also bingo. The food tastes good, but I'm a health-food nut so it's not as good as I may have liked it. I haven't seen anything different with food from other places either. I haven't had any problems with any of the staff.
I've been here at Imperial Plaza for about a month and so far everything has been excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. The area is quiet. I'm very much satisfied and pleased with everything so far. The apartment itself is very basic as far as some of the amenities can be improved, like there's no electric plug in the bathroom which was a little bit disappointing. There's no fan in the bathroom and kitchen. The calendar of activities seems excellent and there are a lot of things going on.
I did visit Imperial Plaza. The facilities were very nice. The amenities were very nice. However, I didn't like it because it was multiple stories; I would not like to live on the fourth or fifth floor. It was a nice place, but I didnt particularly like going up and down the elevator.
I liked Imperial Plaza's independent living facility, but I did not care for the assisted living. They were under new management. The actual apartment looked nice, but getting to the apartment and walking through the hallways was a different story. The assisted living portion of it was terrible. I used to care for a lady that lived there and I did not like the way they treated her and I did not like the way they cleaned her room. I would go visit her and her bed wasn't made and her room wasn't cleaned. The apartments at the independent living portion were cute. They were small but OK.
Brookdale Imperial Plaza was OK, but it wasnt for me. The rooms were nice and a nice size. They were playing bingo. Ive been to the dining area, but I didnt try the food, though it was pretty nice. The staff was very nice.
Imperial Plaza was very nice, clean, and friendly, but it's on the expensive side. The gentleman who walked with me was fabulous, explained everything, and answered all my questions. I was very pleased with him. The rooms were nice and spacious. You can bring your own furniture. Outside of the rooms, especially in the memory loss floor, they had shadow boxes where people can put in their little treasures that mean a lot to them. It was nice and looked like a caring enough community. Everything looked friendly. For their assisted living part, they had several dining rooms, a drugstore, a doctor's office, and a library.
My mother loves where she is living. She is at a senior community called Imperial Plaza. It's so expensive. The rent goes up very quickly and very high, and it is definitely independent living. I looked at those apartments at one point to move in there myself, but they're claustrophobic. I haven't had any interaction with the staff other than when I called and asked questions about services for my mom. When I was looking for an apartment, they were very welcoming. There's nothing wrong with them. I think the staff is lovely. There's Bible study and worship services on Sundays. There's an exercise room and there's dancing. My mother loves Bingo, and she loves the activities. The food is excellent. I've eaten there several times and it's very good. It's presented well and very nice.
Our tour at Brookdale went well, but it was eight floors and too big for my aunt and uncle. It was an older, well-maintained facility. They showed us a room. The food was good. Everybody was friendly.
Brookdale was very cozy. There were a lot of people sitting around who were much older than I am but seemed happy. The staff was wonderful, and the facility was very nicely kept. The atmosphere was very upbeat.
