I wasn't excited about the space at Commonwealth Senior Living at Leigh Hall. To me, it was a little different than what I had seen. The rooms were reasonably priced, but you need to work with your furniture. I like the layout of the building. They had this lovely inner courtyard that was very attractive, especially if you are upstairs, so that when you walk out and go to the balcony area, you could look out and don't feel so closed in. They also offered Alzheimer's/dementia care. They have a different adjoining wing, and it had a lovely separation/security area. From what I could gather, they were well taken care of. So if you need one service, you go to one part of the building, and if you need a different type of service, you go to the other part of the building. The staff was a very nice; she was a very detailed young lady. Once she gave me the particulars, she gave me an open window to look around on my own a little bit. They invited me to have lunch in the dining room, and the staff hooked me up with one of the other residents. We had a lovely lunch, and it was a very pleasant visit, too. There was a resident musician; they also had dances and fitness classes. They were very innovative, and they kept the residents busy, too.
Commonwealth Senior Living at Leigh Hall seems fine, it's clean and had nice people. The staff who assisted me during the visit was very helpful and knowledgeable. I saw residents doing an activity in the common area, it was some sort of a meeting. They had a theater room and a place to congregate, but no pools or beauty shop.
Commonwealth Senior Living at Leigh Hall was OK, and the staff seemed nice. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was depressing. It just seemed like the people that live there were not happy. The staff members I met during my tour were good and has supposedly been working there for a long time. I saw the atrium, and it seems to be on the small side. It was a studio and it was just a small room with a bed and not a lot of space for a lot of furniture. The dining area looked nice too.
Thank you for taking the time to experience our community and share your feedback. We would love the opportunity to wow you. It sounds like we may have been having an off day. Please reach out to me via email ([email protected]) at your convenience. – Josh Jarvis, Executive Director
In July of 2014 my Mom passed away. Being the center of all of our lives, it was very hard on all of us, especially my Dad, having been married for 68 years. He wanted to remain in their home, so initiated a 24-hour In Home Care. His health started declining and with the increasing cost of In Home Care, a decision needed to be made on moving him to Assisted Living. I began a search in our area. When I first called Leigh Hall, my first contact was with Roshawn Foot’e-Scott. She was very informative about the facility and her concern for my situation prompted me to make an appointment and take a tour with my Dad. Having lived in his home with my Mom for 52 years, this decision was very hard on my Dad. From the moment we walked in the door and saw the little pineapple blackboard with “Welcome Finney Family” on it, our fears began to ease. There was an immediate connection with Starr Caulder, the Executive Director. Her compassion and knowledge took away any lingering fears. The interaction she had with her staff and residents clearly showed the respect and admiration they had for her. We signed up for an apartment that day and Dad moved in on December of 2014. Unfortunately, his health seriously declined and he passed away in January of 2015. His stay was short, but due to the caring staff, Dad and I were showered with love, compassion, and tender care, which meant everything to me and my husband each and every day we were there with him. My husband and I continue to visit Leigh Hall, and the “friends” we made there always bring positive memories as we continue to heal. Leigh Hall will be my FIRST recommendation to anyone seeking an Assisted Living Facility for their loved one.
