Holiday Dogwood Terrace

They had nice facilities at Dogwood Terrace, but they couldn't puree food for my mother. I saw residents just sitting around. The dining room was nice and the rooms were spacious enough. I saw an exercising station where they had recumbent bikes. They hav a library. The staff seemed as accommodating as they could be. The facility was clean and pretty well-maintained.

Dogwood Terrace looks like a giant apartment complex. It's fairly neat, clean, bright in appearance, and maintained fairly nicely. There are individual apartments, so it's not like an assisted living community. What you do is you buy the care that you need. You pay for your meals and your help cleaning your apartment and if you need additional care, you buy it not in big chunks, but you buy what you need, like an a la carte menu. Three meals a day are provided, which are paid for with your rent. My aunt-in-law doesn't always make it down for breakfast, but the meals seemed to be adequate. They give you daily menus. There are several choices, and it's done restaurant style. They are fairly responsive. There's no medical staff on the premises, so you're given a life alert button. She's not taking advantage of the activities, but they do offer a variety. Overall, it's a better value than what we were looking at, but what we're looking at in the next step is the assisted living and this is not that. We're getting some assistance and I feel certain before too long we might go down the assisted living channel.

I saw the apartments in Dogwood Terrace, and they looked like a lot of the other apartments I've seen. The staff was friendly; we discussed things, and they answered my questions. I didn't have time for a meal, but I saw the dining room. It was a good tour, where they showed me everything.

Dogwood Terrace was a very beautiful place. The amenities were wonderful. The people were very friendly. The food was nice. They invited me out for lunch while I was there. We talked about their activities. They had a very nice calendar. The apartments were very nice and spacious. The arrangement was nice. The facilities were good. They were easy to get around.

We're moving my father out of Dogwood Terrace. They can't give him the care he needs over there. He has only been there eight days, and we're moving him on Friday. It's a nice place; however, my dad cannot see a microwave nor can he see a menu so that he can pick something up to eat. Sometimes they don't even bring him a meal. So, my father needs to be where there's somebody 24/7 and make sure his meals are right and his pills are right. My father got an apartment. It has a living room, a bedroom and a small kitchenette. They have activities but he is hard of hearing and is legally blind, so he can't play bingo or play cards. He can't see them. They don't have anything there for people like him, but I always see something going on up there.
