Seasons Alzheimer's & Assisted Care (Nacogdoches Road)

I Visited This Community
I visited this facility, and I was impressed with the small staff to resident ratio, clean surroundings, and style of the facility. Seasons Alzheimer’s and Assisted Care is designed so that residents feel like they are home. Everything is cozy and comfortable. The residents move about the facility and socialize with one another. The activities are tailored to create physical endurance, social interaction, and mental stimulation. Music, bingo, game day, parties, and movie night are only a few of the activities that take place. During my visit, the residents were having a birthday party for a fellow resident and was singing. The amenities here area average. There is a place to exercise, a dining facility, media room, salon, and sitting areas. These rooms are not large; however they are able to fit the needs of the small resident population. There are areas that feel a little cramped in the facility, but the interior décor helps to turn tight spaces into warm comfort. Meals are served three times a day, and I think the nutritionist/director does a great job providing healthy meals. Seniors who are diabetic, have hypertension, or live with some type of diet restriction will benefit from living at this facility. Unlike most assisted living facility, this facility even services residents who require tube feeding. The management at this facility understands that proper nutrition plays an important role in the lives of healthy seniors. If you are searching for a facility for a finicky eater, I would bring them along so that they can try the food. I did not have an opportunity to eat, but I was assured that the meals can be adjusted to the resident. The memory care plan does not seem to be very rigorous. However, the plan does involve one on one interaction with the caregivers, and staff engaging professionally with residents is always a plus. One of the staff members did appear to get a little frustrated with a resident, but she never raised her voice at the resident nor did she demonstrate any impatience towards the residents. The staff here seemed to be patient and understand the challenges the residents face. I would choose this facility for a senior who has Alzheimer’s, dementia, or stroke suffers who seek a quiet, calm life and is in need of moderate assistance with activities of daily living.
