I have toured Brookdale N. Fredericksburg Road, and it was fantastic. They went way out of their way to get dad's business, and they did really well. I was really pleased with it, but the only issue was the cost. They offered me drinks. They were very adamant about their health procedures in protecting their patients and themselves, and I really appreciated that. They interviewed my dad and thought that assisted living was better for him than the memory care.

I visited this facility

The staff at Brookdale Fredericksburg Road was very nice. They showed me around. It was a little bit older place but was kept up fine. It looked like a typical nursing home and nothing stood out. The room was just a room and if my parents would choose to be there, the room would have 2 beds and a TV and all their activities would be outside of that room. It wasn't really an apartment-like scenario. They had a variety of rooms, they also showed me one that was very small and would be able to accommodate 1 person. They had a dining room, a library and outside seating areas. The hallways and rooms were like a typical nursing home, and it wasn't like everybody had their own place.

Brookdale N. Fredericksburg Road was very nice, it was very nice inside, but I didn't think it offered enough activities. It seemed like it had more stuff for memory care, and the residents were not that active. The staff was lovely, but they charge double for the medications administration, and the rooms were much smaller; more like a studio than an apartment.

I Visited This Facility

I visited this facility with a friend of mine who has family that lives there. They have a great schedule of activities residents can do daily and a very warm and welcoming activity director. There is a lot of room for residents to move around in whether walking with a walker or pushing themselves down the hall in their wheelchair. there are plenty of people to socialize with so it appears easy for residents to find others they have something in common with. The staff I met were friendly and very helpful to my friend's family member. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a great place they want their loved one to stay. K. Powell

I went to see Brookdale N. Fredericksburg Road. Their entrance was good and the room that my dad chose had a good set up with two rooms and a little living room in the middle. I am not so sure about their staff, so that is one of my concern. One of the ladies that I had been dealing with left, and she was the one that had given us the price and everything. I really didn’t see anything going on when I was there. I know they had activities going on, but I just didn’t see it.

Brookdale N. Fredericksburg Road looked old and I did not like it. It was not very impressive, and there was a smell to the place. It was an open house when we went, and they had barbecue in the courtyard. That part was nice, but I did not like the appearance of the whole place. They had a separate dining room for assisted living that was nice. The furniture was old, and the rooms needed a renovation.

This facility is in a very busy location, but its convenience to the Medical Center make it a great place for seniors. Brookdale N. Fredericksburg is also within a one mile radius to restaurants, banks, and shopping. This street poses a challenge for seniors interested in walking or driving during the day. The staff members here are good, but for seniors needing a lot of attention, this may not be the place for you to call home. Most of the residents are independent in some way. About half of the residents seem to get around well with a walking device such as a walker or walking cane. I am not sure the number of residents who reside here; however, I feel that when I visited, there were not a lot of staff working on the floor. Still, the staff that were available to assist me were helpful. The facility was clean and the landscaping neat. There are a lot of places for the residents to sit out and enjoy when the weather is nice. Also, a few of the residents had private caregivers who came to assist them. This may be an option for families who have loved ones who require a little more assistance. This facility is well priced and compatible to other assisted living facilities. Residents who are able to drive have the option to, but transportation is available at an additional cost. I really like this facility because they offer a variety of activities that foster physical fitness, mental awareness, and social connections. There was a birthday party taking place during my visit, and the residents were singing and dancing. They also have movie night, game night, and arts/crafts classes. I would like to see a computer course here for the seniors who desire to learn. Still, the activity director here is friendly and upbeat. For the senior who needs assistance with activities of daily living and medication reminders, Brookdale N. Fredericksburg is a good choice in a decent location. The medical center, grocery stores, and restaurants are near this facility. Moreover, most of what is needed for residents is provided on site.

This facility has come a long way towards improvement with its new administrator and staff. They are truly a caring and professional bunch and no doubt will be successful in making it a great facility.
