Description of St. Dominic Village
Founded in 1975, St. Dominic Village is a faith-based, non-profit, continuing care retirement community dedicated to Caring for Our Elders with the Compassion of Christ. St. Dominic Village is a member of the Texas Medical Center and a ministry of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. We provide a seamless continuum of care comprised of short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing care, assisted living, independent living, the Joseph A. Fiorenza Priest Residence and respite care services including Angel House. Angel House provides housing for individuals and their families who are in need of an affordable, safe environment while receiving treatment at the Texas Medical Center. We strive to provide a welcoming home with the very highest standard of care to each of our residents according to his or her needs, regardless of race or creed, while celebrating and promoting each one's inherent, personal dignity. We serve approximately 300 long-term and 300 short-term residents, and 3,000 Angel House guests, each year.

I am/was a resident of this facility
I moved into the independent living of St. Dominic Village 3 months ago. It is excellent in every category, the price, the food, the living accommodations, the staff care, and the attention to detail. They have 2 activities a day, lots of tours outside the campus, and going to events. It's a very large campus.

I visited this facility
St. Dominic Village did not have the facility for two people to be in the same room. They would have to open up a second room with a door to accommodate going back and forth between them. They only had space for twin beds and we have a queen bed. Our walker and wheelchair would not fit inside that room with a queen, so they would have to charge double. The room was extremely small, and could only fit a twin bed, a loveseat, and a book shelf. The staff members were excellent and very helpful, the residents were excellent, and the kitchen staff was fine. The food was delicious. We would have to do our own laundry, and they only had one washer and dryer on each floor. They would come once a week and mop the floor and do light housework. They have three buildings and we would've been on the second floor. They have a very small elevator and you have to go through that building and two other buildings to get to a four-lane type driveway to get to the dining room. The dining room was a nice size and they have accommodations for those with allergies to certain food.
