The best way to get to know a community is by scheduling a tour. See the facilities, meet the staff and residents, and get a feel first hand what it's like to live at Legacy at Georgetown Assisted Living.
The Legacy at Georgetown was very nicely decorated. It's fairly new and it's modern looking. I was impressed with it. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have a community room, a salon, and a library. They showed me a private room and it was nice, but it was above my budget.
Legacy at Georgetown was very nice, orderly, and clean. I had an appointment, but when we got there, there wasn't any staff in the office at all. We had to wait 15 minute,s and when I started walking around, I noticed that they were in a meeting. Even when they got out, they went over to go talk to somebody else because it was somebody's birthday, and they noticed me, but they didn't acknowledge us and it was not until I started walking towards them that they said "Oh, how can I help you?" The person that took us around was very young, barely out of college, and didn't even ask us our names. When she didn't address us by our names, she couldn't relate to the situation. It was very cold. My mom and I didn't like it at all. The facility was clean, but we didn't meet any residents. The other thing that put us off was she offered to get Mom a wheelchair, which she did, but the wheelchair didn't have any feet part to it, so she just told my mom to sit down on it and keep her feet up. Well, we had to tour the place and for an elderly to have to hold up her feet up that long, I don't think that was right.
