Description of Prairie Estates
Prairie Estates provides 25/7 skilled nursing services within its vibrant, resort-like community near Frisco Lakes. Around-the-clock clinical services include personal care and hygiene administration, intravenous therapy, tracheotomy care, wound management and medication administration. Speech, physical and occupational therapies are offered, and X-ray, laboratory and pharmacy services are also available on-site. Respite care and enteral/parenteral therapy are additional community services for residents needing advanced skilled nursing services.
Prairie Estates offers seniors their choice of private or shared suites. Each room is equipped with flat-screen TVs with satellite services, Wi-Fi, telephone headsets and electric beds with easy comfort adjustment levels. Housekeeping and laundry services are provided for residents regularly, and the on-site beauty salon helps residents remain looking their best without having to leave the community. An activity program with community outings helps residents get out and about under trained supervision.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
Prairie Estates is a beautifully laid out place. The food is mediocre and they are very slow in getting it to the patients. The physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy are awesome. I'd give them a 5-star rating. The nursing staff is OK, but the CNAs that help assist the patients are mediocre. They probably need more training, but it is a decent place overall. For short term care, it serves its purposes. They have about three activities a day. The rooms are awkwardly shaped. If you have a wheelchair, it would be hard to get into the bathroom just because the bathroom door doesn't open up all the way, but all the rooms are different. All the rooms have a fairly nice view of the green area or the trees, which is nice. They were decorated OK, and the size is OK for one person.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
My Father was at this location for just over a day. He is unable to walk, is very weak, and was not to be left unattended while outside of the bed for any period of time at all. The staff was to always use a gait belt with two people to assist moving him. 1. The staff would NOT use the gait belts 2. Used gloves left on the bathroom floor. Trash not taken out. Had to request the nurse take the trash out which was done ONLY when we brought it to their attention. Not very clean 3. Though it was discussed multiple times the staff left my Dad unattended for a period of time in the restroom. Wanting to move he decided to try and get up to move and fell. He was on multiple drugs so on top of the fact that he is weak and unable to walk he was on some very strong medicine. He ended up with multiple fractures in his cheek and about 7 stitches just above his eye. He was rushed to the ER and had to spend four days inpatient. The techs are absolutely rude, argue with each other and do not smile. If you care about your loved one do not send them here. I am saddened that a facility like this seems to care more about profit then they do patients. One wonders what kind of experience others are having that are either unknown or not reported! Obviously there are some serious management issues with this facility...
