My mother is a resident of Elmcroft of Shallowford. I think it's well-kept, staffed well, and a very neat and clean community. I was very happy with it. We chose this because we were pressed for time and when I got there and saw the place I thought it would work. Her room there is good, it's adequate, it could be better, but it'll work. My mom says the food is pretty good, and she's pretty happy with it. I think the staff there is a really good bunch. My mom has done a few activities, it seems to be keeping her occupied, and she's OK with it so far. They take the residents out shopping, they have an ice cream social, and some other stuff.
Elmcroft of Shallowford seemed to be the best fit for us. My father's room is clean. They have activities, but I don't really know how much he participates. I know he has played Bingo a few times. The dining area is nice. It's not fancy, but it's functional and clean. The staff is very nice and very professional. They have an enclosed garden, which is a very nice. There had been a few cases where I had some miscommunication with them, but nothing serious. They take good care of him. The only issues I've had with them have been very minor and they've just been basically communication. It's clean; I've never seen anything otherwise.

Elmcroft of Shallowford had this program where for 100 days, they'd spend pretty much 24 hours a day with my mother-in-law if she needed it. She suffers from Sundowner's, so she only sleeps about two hours a day. They'd have someone with her pretty much at all times because she falls a lot. So, the 100-day care was a huge thing for us. The Shallowford is one-story. They both have the same exact amenities as where my mother-in-law is in now and we liked them both. They have the same exact amenities, same exact services, and same exact philosophy. It's pretty active all the time. Everybody that I met there was extraordinarily nice. I liked the director. We liked everything about it.

I didn't like Elmcroft of Shallowford at all. It was understaffed and it wasn't clean. I didn't find that they took good care of my father. His room was very dark and the bathroom wasn't kept clean. They didn't do laundry regularly. The food was fine and they have movies, games, daily events, and occasional shopping. They didn't keep up with laundry and housekeeping.
