Sara Shelton is the owner of Seattle Aging Solutions, an organization dedicated to assisting families in assessing the needs of an aging loved one, arranging for appropriate services and providing ongoing support & counseling to ensure positive solutions.
Sara discovered her passion for interacting with seniors through a summer job at a local retirement community in Spokane, WA. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration/Management from Washington State University, she pursued her interest in eldercare by earning her Master's degree in Gerontology at the University of Arizona. During graduate school, she worked with local, county and state aging agencies, interviewing hundreds of seniors in their homes and assisting in the statistical evaluation of social service programs.
Over the past 13 years, Sara has gained invaluable experience in various facets of the eldercare industry, developing expertise in guiding families through the challenges associated with aging. For several years, she managed senior living communities in Arizona and Washington State, including a non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community and for-profit independent living and assisted living communities, some of which offered Alzheimer's care.
With a goal of directly assisting families in their search for appropriate senior care options, Sara then worked for two years as an eldercare advisor. Most recently, she provided leadership at a start-up company dedicated to assisting older adults and their families during the process of downsizing and relocating. Each of these experiences throughout Sara's career has led her to recognize the importance of educating our society about aging and senior care-related topics.
