The National Institute on Aging funds 29 Alzheimer’s Disease Centers located within major medical institutions across the United States. Alabama is fortunate to be the home of one such center located within the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Sparks Research Center. The Alzheimer’s Disease Center at UAB conducts research on the prevention and cure of memory-related disorders while also providing comprehensive medical treatment to seniors suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. Residents of Alabama memory care facilities can take advantage of this great local resource by volunteering to be a part of the Center's on-going research studies.
