I visited Greenfield of Lansdale. The place looked nice enough and the people were also very nice. It looked like it was a great place. They had a lot of people sitting in this big area watching TV. They showed me one of the rooms that was for two people. It had connecting rooms and they share a bathroom.
My dad is in Greenfield of Lansdale and I'm happy with it. He's doing well, but it will take time for him to get used to it. The facility is lovely and kept extremely clean. The staff is wonderful, happy, nice, kind, and takes their time with the residents. They have therapy, which my father is doing three times a week. The rooms are lovely and cozy, and my dad likes it. The only negative is my dad says he doesn't like the food there because it's not good.
Greenfield of Lansdale seemed more institutional to me. The people were very friendly, but it felt more like a nursing home and was too assisted for what I was looking for. It was clean and nice, but the room was basically a studio. The staff was very nice.
Greenfield of Lansdale was nice, and there were a lot of residents. It was one big, open area. The rooms were nice, open, and big. It was a very nice place, but the distance was an issue for us.
We had chosen Greenfield of Lansdale, but it's been put on hold. They were awesome. It's a great facility all on one floor and a physical therapist on-site, so that was very advantageous to us. They had a lot of amenities that Mom likes, including a hairdresser. Everybody was very friendly and willing to help in any way they could. It was an awesome experience. They had a bunch of activities available and with the social calendar they had, it was a 5.
Spring Meadows of Lansdale is only about 15 minutes from me. Everything in the middle of the building; there is a great room where they can gather, a dining room. then, the hallways go off where the bedrooms are. One of the things that I like is that everybody has their own duties, like there is a kitchen staff typically just to wait on them for their meals. They are not the person who helps them during the day. They have a different cleaning staff who cleans the rooms every day. They had a different staff do the laundry. They have a standard menu and then specials every day. They had activities, like bingo, getting her nails painted, little games, outtings outside, word games, and Wii on TV. She doesn’t always participate, but she likes to be there and watch. Whenever I go visit her, she is always out in the great room watching people doing stuff. The only thing that I think is missing that they are going to work on is getting a bus and doing activities outside. They do not own one yet. I think that is important to some residents. It is nice to go out. I think they go to a park and have a picnic. They bring lunch and everything. They walk around the lake, which I think is nice. I'd like to see them do more things like that. They are very close to a hospital and have nursing staff on 24 hours a day. Everything is on one floor. You can walk right outside to a big patio right there. They had a hair salon. They just make an appointment and they come down together to have their hair cut. She does physical therapy and the physical therapy is just right there. The eye doctor and the podiatrist comes in. It is nice. I do not have to bring her places. She has been there for three months now, and everything is good.
My Mom has been at Spring Meadows for almost a year now and she absolutely loves it. The entire staff is so friendly and they do a great job of taking care of all her needs. I can't say enough good things as the building is always clean and smells great. We looked at many personal care homes in the area before making our decision and we have no regrets.
Everything was on one floor at Spring Meadows of Lansdale. The place was like a maze. One hallway went to another, to an alcove, to a hallway, and I jokingly said to the guy, "I should have brought my breadcrumbs because I can't figure out how to get out of here!" Aside from that, they showed me an apartment and the bathroom was smaller than a closet. If you sat on the toilet in there, and leaned forward, you'd hit your head on the other wall. That's how narrow it was. I said, "What's the story?" And the staff member said, "That's for safety." It had nothing to do with safety. It had more to do with utilization of the building to create another bathroom. In fact, it was even a shared bathroom. I couldn't believe how small it was. That was a turn off for me. Plus, the community fee was $4,500. Everybody else in the area is $3,000-$3,500 at the most, so that was another negative.
Spring Meadows was brand new inside. The grounds were pretty. The inside was very open, so the sitting area and the eating area were noisy because it's all open. The rooms were nice. The people there seemed very personable and seemed to know what they're talking about when I'm asking questions. The monthly fee was good but the entry fee was large at $4,500. They had a very simple dining room that was very noisy, and he won't like it. It's all open and there's no privacy whatsoever.
Spring Meadows was very clean and cozy. The staff is really caring. When you walk in the door, you feel like you want to kick your shoes off and hang out. It has a comfortable atmosphere, and you feel good walking around the place. I like the fact it's one floor, so Mom doesn’t have to worry about elevators. Mom said the food is good; some days it’s bland but she is not losing weight, that’s for sure. They had entertainment come in and a piano player. I guess she is happy there.
Spring Meadows is good, but you're never going to find anything that you're going to be content with when somebody else is caring for your parents. The first week we were there, my mother's hearing aid was lost, which was $2,000 down the drain. They apologized for it. There are so many hands onboard that the communication doesn't seem to get back to the way it should be. The staff seemed like they're very transit. There's a few people that you see all the time, and you always see new people coming onboard. We've only been there for about six weeks, so we're still getting to know some of the people. They're nice, and the security is pretty good. My mom seems to like the food. They could improve on being more personable, paying attention to the need of the person. There's just so many hands on deck. I think it would be good if they communicate better and write things down so that the next person that comes onboard can know what's expected to do. It just seemed like every time I go in there every week, I have to complain about something. I don't want to do that. It's little things, but still those little things add up. We had ordered a case of Ensure for my mom because she's not eating well, so we thought it would be good for vitamins. I ordered vanilla because she has problems with constipation, so I didn't want her to have chocolate. But they did order chocolate. I told them over and over, like two weeks and they haven't changed it. We have to pay extra for that. Little things like that can be irritating and I'm sure it's irritating for them to hear complaints. I don't want to do that.
