I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
It looks wonderful when you tour. It isn't. My family member required hydrocodone regularly for extreme pain. These were not given to him as directed by his doctor. On Fourth of July he called saying he was in horrible pain. My husband called to find out "they forgot to order" these meds and the pharmacies were closed. He would have to wait until the next day. Another and last time he was there we found him incoherent. He had no cognitive problems unless he was ill. We asked to have the nurse come. We were told he had a bladder infection. I went back to stay the night with him and asked about the results of the urine test and what med were they giving him. No test had been ordered within the last two weeks. By now he was so ill we asked if we should call an ambulance. Well, uh, they didn't think so. He said he didn't want to go to the hospital. He thought he was cooking dinner in his room! The nurses didn't know what to do so we had to insist they call the ambulance. When he got to the ER, his oxygen sats were at 64. My husband uses oxygen 24/7 so I knew he wouldn't live. Blood pressure so low I couldn't believe he lived. We thought we were saying goodbye. He did recover to a small extent. He died about a month later. There is a complaint with the State of Oklahoma filed by our family.
