Summit Place of South Park's staff is very friendly. The place is a very clean and organized facility. I would highly recommend it. They have both apartments and studios. The outdoor space is nice, the dining hall is very spacious, and they have activities there. It's an excellent place to be.
My mother moved into Summit Place of South Park. Great value, great staff, bright, and open layout, and lots to do. They provide exercise, outings, games, and parties. They had amenities and good home-cooked food. The apartment is small but clean. The bathroom is great, very large, and handicap accessible.
My sister has only lived at Summit Place of South Park for a week. They said I'd get a schedule of the activities and the menu, but I never did get anything. I don't like anything about the place. Anytime you ask a person a question, they don't know the answer. I have only seen a CNA one time all the times that I was there. My sister's clothes were always disappearing, and the week before I picked her up, she only had one outfit. They charge for anything and make you use your own linens. There are so many things wrong with the place, it's unreal. I never see anybody there and my sister's stuff was never in her room; other people's stuff was in her closet. She said the food wasn't very good and said that she wished she was out of there. She also said there was no one to talk to and nothing to do. Their price is outrageously high.
This is a follow up to a previous review. The Hayes family finally had a conference call with on sight administration, and two nurses concerning the care of our mom Ethel Hayes. It has been almost two weeks since the call. We did request a partial refund. No real resolutions. Hopefully in house protocols will be reviewed to insure the safety of their residents. One thing I've learned is a 5 star living facility by no means indicate a rating. These facilities are under the umbrella of a senior living provider named Five Star. A definite play with words. My advice to anyone looking for quality care is research, research and research. Will keep you posted on the outcome.
This facility is very pretty inside and out. The residents live in nice rooms with clean surroundings. The dining room presents like a restaurant. These residents are cared for individually. You will never seen them sitting around in their wheelchairs asleep outside of their rooms. If their tired they sleep in their rooms. The facility looks like a nice hotel and the residents appreciate living there.
No better memory care around. If you are seeking memory care, go to Summit Place. Ask about Lorraine Utley! She is an angel! Summit Place offers a beautiful facility, and their staff is well educated. The residents appear to be very happy, and the activities offered are numerous and varied. I have never eaten there, but I have been in the dining room. The residents seemed to enjoy their meals, and I noticed few left overs on plates of residents who had finished eating.
Our family was in need of Assisted Living Care for my father. We visited 4 places and went on the recommendation of one friend,the appearance of the amenities and reviews. Dad is 86 years old and lived at the Summit for approximately one year. He used a wheel chair and could transition from bed to chair etc.. For the most part his needs were met. We did pay extra each month for "Gentle Care Service" which should have included nail clips etc.. This was not done consistently even though he was on "the list" and we had to repeatedly ask to have this service done. Overall the staff was kind. Food was small portions and nothing to speak of except for daily desserts and ice cream, which the residents seem to enjoy. Daily complaints from clients about food could be heard at any given time-even asking "What is this?" My main complaint- My father was sick with pneumonia and pink eye. We had visited him two days before his hospitalization and he said he didn't feel great but no visible signs of distress other than him feeling particularly tired. His eyes looked like he had not washed his face. He said he had not, so we did it for him. My mother called to check on him the next day and was told he was resting but O.K. The next day she called 3 times with little response, phone messages sent to the second floor and finally to a Practical Nurse who said Dad was in his room with other workers.(No other information given) My mother demanded to speak with him and the call was not returned by staff. Upon hearing all of this I left work, picked up my mother and drove over there, my dad used his cell (he couldn't reach it earlier) and called while we were in route asking for our help. We arrived to find him sitting up in bed with his feet on the floor, head hanging down, eyes half glued shut from pink eye infection and he was wheezing. A grilled cheese sat in front of him on a chair and his diaper had been changed! We demanded that they call 911 immediately and repeatedly asked why the family had not been called clearly he was great distress! A young man working there said "I just got here at 3 o'clock" -not wanting any blame. Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing assistants on staff. Really...? Were they all deaf to his wheezing and blind to the infection coming from his eyes-that was on his t-shirt and bed sheets? Our family visits at least 4 days each week. This was terrible neglect. One phone call or even response to the questions that had been made earlier that day, anything would have been better than the way they handled this situation. The family would have acted immediately. My father was in the hospital for 2 weeks and has now been moved to a skilled nursing rehab to regain strength. After playing phone tag,I received one call back from the new director, Mark Craine. It was the first time he had heard about the event. I haven't heard from Director or the house physician since that call. They said they sent someone to see him in the hospital. We don't know if that really happened. Waiting to hear from hospital staff about his illness and what could have been done and it being the last few days of September, Summit still got their $3,700.00 private pay check for October. My Dad has not spent one day there this month. A return to the Summit? NO WAY. The website and tour are much more impressive than the expertise that was displayed. Shame on them.
I LOVE SUMMIT PLACE! I quite frequently take my clients to tour their facility, and everyone is impressed. Their staff is unbeatable. I have also pleased to be a provider of Music Therapy to their clients. They understand the need for music therapy and its many benefits. Kudos to Summit Place! Visit them. You won't be disappointed!
