I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
My Mom is in Brookdale South Park, and they're good. The nurses or assistants are very good, very helpful, and very friendly. They have activities and crafts, and they have a good crafts director. It has an area for birds and fish and things like that. However, there's not a whole lot of effort to help people interact with each other. They kind of just sit and watch TV a lot, and that's the only problem I have. Also, their bookkeeping is questionable as far as the add-on. There's a lot of expenses. When my mom started, it was like $6,000 a month and within nine months they added on $,3000 a month by saying that she needed extra care. They couldn't tell us the breakdown of where that money went and what that money was for. They just don't have detailed bookkeeping and to me that's very unusual. My brother and father have discussed it several times, but they can't come up with a detailed list of the costs for them.
