I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father-in-law has moved into Sunrise at Fleetwood. So far, so good. There are no major issues with the way they operate the place. Overall, there are no complaints about the cleanliness and the upkeep. The staff is friendly, but at times they could use a little more staff. My father-in-law's room is a well-lit nice space. It accommodates him well. The dining room is a well-appointed nice area. It has a homey feel to it.

I visited this facility

Atria Rye Brook is very luxurious, but it's not for me. The apartments are big enough and more than adequate. I saw people having lunch during my tour, the food was fine, and the dining area was more than adequate as well. They have amenities like an exercise area. The staff member I dealt with there was very personable. The place was very upscale and it's all very neat and clean. I think this community is very well run for people who like this sort of place.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother-in-law was at Sunrise at Fleetwood assisted living for three months and I was very dissatisfied. We paid them $700 extra to make sure she had her two medications every day. She had wandered off one night and one of the staff found her down a very busy road. Their psychiatrist concluded that she was confused and she would need a bracelet, so they would be notified if she went out the door. However, it only works if she goes out the front door, not if she goes out the back or the side. They would assign somebody for an additional $25 an hour to sit with her all day, and they were going to try to arrange a memory care unit for her. The nurse called me and said my mother-in-law had 104 fever. I took her to Urgent Care, and the doctor told me she has no fever nor a urinary tract infection, but her blood pressure was 300/179. The doctor said the facility is not giving her her medication the way she's supposed to take it. It's either they're handing it to her and she's throwing it away or she's pretending to take it but no one is making sure that she takes it. I took her out of there, and it took me six months to get my refund. If she couldn't remember to go to any of the activities, they never bothered to take her. When they went on trips, she wasn't able to go because they did not have someone that could watch her. They need to keep track of the patients, they need to make sure that they're getting their medications, and they need a nurse that knows what she's talking about.

My husband had rehab at King Street Rehab for two weeks. The place was spotless, the food was great and they take care of the patients. They're very good and I'd recommend them to anybody. They put my husband to bed, help him out of bed and with his meals, really everything. They have private and semi-private rooms. They do all kinds of exercises with the patients, and they give everything the patient needs. The activities were very good. Don't hesitate to go there because your loved on will be cared for.

I visited this facility

Sunrise at Fleetwood didn't have too many activities, but they had more residents who have dementia. It's more like an adult care than for the physically disabled people. The rooms and the facility were beautiful. The dining area was beautiful and cozy. The building itself was very nice. The staff was excellent. They had a nice kitchen and nice meals.
